Ventia's Indigenous Participation team, TRECCA, is looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want a long-term career with Ventia in WA, working on our Department of Justice contract.

We're working with the Department of Justice and need people like you for our Custody Officer team in WA. As a Custody Officer, you'll help keep detainees safe and secure. You'll make sure they have what they need, while always being professional and respectful.

Free Training: Get a free Certificate 3 in Correctional Services to learn new skills and open up more job opportunities. Paid to Learn: Earn money for all 6 weeks of training. More Pay Later: Start at $27.35 an hour during training, then go up to $29.50 an hour. Extra Money for Regional Living: Get an extra $10,189 a year, paid with your regular pay slips.


What will you do?

Safely transport and supervise detainees. Help out at court when needed. Handle disagreements and talk to detainees respectfully, making a positive difference. Treat everyone fairly. Keep everyone safe – detainees, staff, and the public. Patrol the area. Supervise detainees, take them to appointments or court, and keep records.


What do you need?

Able to train full-time for 6 weeks in Perth. Willing to work for at least 12 months to get your qualifications. Identify as Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Willing to take a medical fitness test, including a drug and alcohol test. Willing to talk to our TRECCA team about your personal situation. We're a culturally safe space and will treat you with respect and understanding.
