**Premier Cardiovascular Institute-Beaveer** **FT/ DAYS/ 80 hours per pay** **Summary** EP Technicians prepare patients to be seen by physicians, maintains the pacer/ICD clinics, handles patient and pharmacy calls, and assists physicians with patient treatment and teaching. **Duties & Responsibilities** 1. Maintains current knowledge in cardiology, medications and electrophysiology. 2. Assists, as necessary, with scheduling of EP office visits and pacer clinics. 3. Sets up patients for routine office visits: height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, ECG, interview patient, etc. 4. Performs complete history on new electrophysiology patients. 5. Verifies patient medications and performs patient medication education. 6. Assists with post procedure surgical wound checks including pertinent patient education. 7. Assesses/triages cardiac electrophysiology patients by telephone to determine necessary intervention, seeking physician input as appropriate. Calls back patients with lab results and test results. 8. Handles all patient messages and questions. 9. Maintains and updates patients’ electronic medical records. 10. Assists with device checks during organized pacer clinic. 11. Starts and finishes EP office clinics and provides coverage throughout while periodically monitoring patient calls. 12. Manages physician’s office clinic to maintain efficient clinic flow. 13. Assists in management of physician’s office schedule to accommodate needed appointment times and ensure appropriate patient follow up. 14. Travels with physicians and/or reps to maintain device clinic at other locations as needed. 15. Assists in emergencies as described in Premier Health’s policies/procedures. 16. Accesses, uses and discloses personal health information according to HIPAA regulations and Premier Health Specialists’ Privacy Policy. 17. Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** 1. Education/Registry: Successful completion of a licensed nursing program. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate. 2. Maintains current nursing license in the State of Ohio with completion of CNE requirements. 3. Experience/Training: At least 2 years of experience Licensed Practical Nurse and/or Medical Assistant, with at least one year of experience working with telemetry and cardiac patients. 4. Special Qualifications: Must possess computer skills, and excellent oral communication skills, tact and patience to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, other staff, and general public. Experience with electronic medical records, Epic experience preferred .
