Epi Process Technician

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Perform Epitaxial growth and related processes in accordance with instructions from the epi process engineering team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Pre-epi substrate inspections, sorting, loading into reactors and characterization tools, visual inspections, generating output files, unloading, dispositions, shipments, maintaining run sheets, enter observations and process records into Database. Discuss post epi metrology results with the epi process engineering team and set up next epi runs with adjustments. Perform Epi Dispositions on a regular basis, for all material post processing. Troubleshoot process issues, follow escalation procedures for unresolved problems. Participate in daily shift pass downs, exchange daily shift reports. Maintain accurate records of process parameters. Maintain order and cleanliness in the clean room work areas. Always stay in communication with the equipment team and proactively assist with tool recovery as needed. Participate in equipment maintenance programs as needed. Support the development and evolution of operating procedures. Support in other areas such as wafer cleaning, final packaging and shipping. Follow all health, safety, environmental, ergonomic, and clean room requirements, regulations, and procedures.

Education & Experience

Associate degree in engineering/science OR High School Diploma with 3+ years’ experience in related technical field. Experience in Epi and or Characterization preferred. Experience in testing, data analysis, process improvement preferred. Must have basic level or above experience with Microsoft applications and Windows.

Skills

Must be technically inclined with verbal/written communication and attention to detail skills. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment. Must be well organized and able to multitask. Must be goal oriented and have problem solving attitude. Must be able to operate computer-controlled equipment independently and make data entries. ITAR compliance requirement: Individual must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). Strong interpersonal, teamwork skills.

Working Conditions

100% on site; day shift 6am to 6pm or night shift (preferred) 6pm to 6am 3 days on 4 days off, 4 days on 3 days off with swing day on Wednesday. 

Physical Requirements

Hands-on requirements. Ability to work at a computer.  Ability to walk around for extended periods. Must be able to lift 40lb or above.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporation EHS standards. This includes the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.

Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently.  They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
