Job Description:
The Student Health Care Center at the University of Florida, within the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM), is seeking an experienced Epic Builder to join our team. Reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology (IT) for Student Health and indirectly to the Director of Ambulatory Clinical Applications, this role serves as the lead contact for electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
The position involves leveraging expertise in Epic EMR to manage projects, provide application and workstation support, and oversee business planning and data management. troubleshooting issues, gathering user specifications, and implementing technological solutions to support the Student Health Care Center's daily operations. This role may also involve supervisory responsibilities and administrative tasks as needed.
As an Epic Builder, you will:
+ Partner with clinical teams to standardize EMR processes and promote best practices across Student Health clinics.
+ Assist with IT services and support initiatives to improve satisfaction among staff, providers, and patients.
+ Obtain and maintain EpicCare Ambulatory certification to stay at the forefront of EMR optimization.
+ Participate in enhancing and implementing EMR systems, contributing to training, communication, and project prioritization.
+ Develop and update department-specific tools like SmartText, SmartSets, Flowsheets, and preference lists.
+ Act as the department's primary resource and superuser, providing support, troubleshooting, and user training.
+ Collaborate on communication management projects, including MyChart builds, to enhance provider-patient interaction.
+ Lead and attend key meetings to share knowledge, address workflow issues, and contribute to system improvements.

Expected Salary:
The salary range is between $70,000 to $80,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Epic Business System Certification may substitute for degree. Epic Business System Certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, particularly EpicCare Ambulatory and Inpatient modules.
+ Proficiency in building, maintaining, and optimizing EMR applications, and configurations, including advanced Epic reporting tools (standard, workbench, and ad hoc).
+ Experience with MyChart and other clinical interface functionalities.
+ Strong background in clinical workflow analysis, process improvement, and quality management initiatives.
+ Knowledge of healthcare quality programs, meaningful use criteria, carrier documentation guidelines, and quality auditing.
+ Demonstrated ability to conduct documentation audits, optimize revenue cycle processes, and ensure compliance.
+ Competence in system updates, software testing, and creating user-focused educational content.
+ Expertise in documentation, change control procedures, and developing best practice guidelines.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving system issues and improving workflows.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
+ Ability to work independently or as part of a team, manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines.
+ Certifications: EpicCare or similar EMR applications, Quality Improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma), and clinical credentials (e.g., RN, ARNP, PA).
+ Strong organizational skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
+ Punctuality, excellent attendance, and a professional approach at all times.
+ Ability to learn new programs, maintain strict confidentiality, and demonstrate sensitivity in public interactions.
+ Consistently display interest in the health system's success and well-being, taking initiative to contribute whenever possible.
