**Overview**
Equipment Inspector (EAGLE 2025-22715):
Bowhead seeksanEquipment Inspectorto join our team in support of the Maintenance and Supply Divisions at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen,MD. The Maintenance Division Equipment Inspector inspects equipment and establishes what repairs, rebuilds or overhauls of major assemblies are required.
**Responsibilities**
Essential duties include:
+ Analyzes malfunctions and repair or rebuild of equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools.
+ Inspects and tests equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and specialized testing devices such as compression testers, spring compression testers, motor analyzers, test benches, dynamometers, ohmmeters, voltmeters, or ammeters.
+ Identifies parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; transmissions; fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems, for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
+ Diagnoses the source of trouble and determines the extent of repairs required.
+ Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects and insure operating efficiency.
+ Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
+ Consults technical manuals, publications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other written directives to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning.
+ Inspects equipment to DA standards of 10/20/30 level repairs.
+ Requisitions materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
+ Records inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected or graded.
+ Notifies facility personnel of equipment shutdowns.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ A high school diploma or equivalent is required in addition to at least five (5+) years’ experience as an equipment mechanic.
+ Must possess a valid State issued CDL and be able to obtain/maintain a forklift license.
+ Basic to intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical demands:
+ Lift/carry/push/slide up to 50 pounds routinely.
+ Bend, squat, stoop, crouch, and lean.
+ Sit for long periods of time operating a computer keyboard.
+ Repeat the same movements.
+ Exposure to excessive noise.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. Due to the location of this work, U.S. citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
