**Job Title: Equipment Mechanic** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled Equipment Mechanic to join our team at the scrap yard. The candidate will be responsible for performing upkeep and repairs on trailers and heavy equipment, including forklifts, front end loaders, loaders, and Liebherr Cranes. This role involves both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair work on hydraulic systems and air pumps and valves. **Responsibilities** + Perform mechanic repairs on tractor trailers and heavy equipment in the plant. + Conduct preventive maintenance such as greasing, bearing changes, oil changes, filter changes, and brake and light maintenance. + Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using prints or schematics. + Repair air leaks and air valves. + Perform heavy welding on large metal/steel. + Service and maintain skid steers, material handlers, forklifts, and front end loaders. + Perform tasks such as filter changes, fluid changes, air filter replacements, and greasing. + Ensure compliance with company site policies and safety procedures. + Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots. + Notify the supervisor of currently needed or anticipated repairs. + Run equipment on the pad to ensure proper functionality. + Keep the work area clean and organized. + Perform any other duties or assignments as requested by management. **Essential Skills** + 5+ years of experience working as a mechanic. + Experience with diesel engines from tractor trailers or heavy equipment. + Knowledge of hydraulic components and schematics. + Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues. + Experience with pneumatic systems. + Ability to work out in various weather conditions. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. + Class A CDL is a huge plus. + Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. + Comfortable working in tight quarters, such as the cab of a machine. + Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and climb in and out of machinery. **Why Work Here?** We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and an Employee Assistance Program. You will be expected to work in all elements, including outdoor conditions during the winter. The shop is equipped with heaters, and we provide uniforms and colder weather gear. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:30pm, with possible Saturday hours.
