EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the FACILITIES, PLANNING, AND ENGINEERING DIVISION (N41), FACILITIES, SUPPLY AND LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT (N4) of NCTAMSLANT NORVA. This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f. Responsibilities You will troubleshoot facility equipment and system problems, develop, and evaluate data and make recommendations and/or initiates corrective actions based on findings. You will perform operational tests, maintenance and repairs in areas associated with electrical/electronic power distribution equipment, conditioned power equipment (Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)) within NCTAMS LANT's region. You will plan and accomplish emergency and routine tests of generators and uninterruptible power equipment to determine operational problems. You will evaluate problems occurring at NCTAMS LANT regional activities that involve electrical systems, electronic power systems and general overall electrical systems. You will assemble and review drawings, specifications, manufacturer's changes, and technical publications. You will recommend proper application to operation and maintenance policies of electrical components on each site. You will maintain current technical records of Electrical/Electro-Mechanical equipment and related components. You will provide assistance to on-site supervisors to expedite required modifications, additions and changes, which effect the operation and maintenance of various types of electrical and electronic power systems. You will create and maintain project folders; develop, from draft, completion performance of work statements, cost estimates, equipment acceptance/test criteria, project timelines for facilities and equipment repairs, replacements, or upgrades. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: -Experience producing conventional drawings by using computer-aided drafting and imaging equipment. -Experience utilizing electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment, such as air conditioning plants, electrical switch gear, power generators or similar related equipment. -Experience assembling and analyzing data for written or oral reports for formal and informal presentations. -Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and gauges, meters, records, and computer software analyzers to analyze problems and propose solutions. Graduate Education: Major study -- fields related to the position to be filled.
