EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (GENERAL)
Summary You will serve as an Equipment Specialist (General) in the Material Ordering Branch (Code 244.1) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Responsibilities You will ensure all aspects of the advance material ordering function are both timely and cost effectively executed. You will identify required materials to support assigned work consistent with current NAVSEA material management strategies. You will review usage data of past availabilities of similar class ships and provide or develop adequate procurement specifications or resolve technical specification problems with procurement personnel. You will study, interpret and analyze blueprints and plans, Allowance Parts List (APL), Technical Repair Standards (TRS), technical manuals, SHIPALT records, Liaison Action Requests (LAR), etc., that assists in the material determination process. You will study the effectiveness of existing material management programs and processes and continually submit recommendations for improvement to management. You will analyze new programs and systems for possible application to maximize cost, schedule or performance metrics. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating material programs or processes to identify issues and make recommendations for supporting effective modernization of naval vessels. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Additional Information This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
