Equipment Tech

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Equipment Tech for the Central Sterile Processing Department at Morristown Medical Center.  Required hours are 7:00am-3:00pm including every other weekend.


Essential Functions:


Job Function 01: Responsible for maintaining the process of SPD supplies, ordering, and assisting with exchanging Crash Carts to units after Crash Cart use within an appropriate time frame.

Job Function 02: Checks equipment supplies and accessories on a regular basis while monitoring SPD supply areas for compliance to regulatory agencies.

Job Function 03: Obtains, returns, and delivers equipment to SPD for disinfection regularly; performs minor troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of equipment as needed; specifically, patient care equipment and Crash Carts.

Job Function 04: Cleans and disinfects equipment, carts as per standards and policies and ensures equipment is functioning properly and stored appropriately.

Job Function 05: Assesses and stocks Crash Cart after use assuring sterility dates have not expired. Works with SPD Materials Representative to maintain Par Level of Crash Cart supplies. 

Job Function 06: Works collaboratively with all Departments, Clinical Engineering, Nursing Units, Sterile Processing Team Members, and Cardiovascular Clinical Specialist.

Job Function 07: Demonstrates ability to handle changing priorities that may arise. Pays attention to details of job and maintains an organized system for documentation, reports, record keeping, files and workflow. Maintains accountability for follow up on job functions that are time sensitive. 

Job Function 08: Works in a self-directed manner, accurately communicating pertinent information to appropriate personnel. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by Assist Manager, Manager, Supervisor, Lead Technicians or Materials Representative. 

 Job Function 09: As part of the annual evaluation process, submits a list of year end accomplishments as well as goals that are reviewed and mutually agreed upon for the coming year.

Job function 10: Use of computer applications: Understands and properly utilizes SPM to document work completed.  

Job function 11: Personal/ Professional growth will be maintained through AHS OD classes, in-service education, conferences, and literature. 

Job function 12: Assist in the decontamination area with unloading instrument dumbwaiter, loading/unloading cart washer and other duties that does not require certification. 

Job function 13: Other tasks which may be required: assignments that meet the needs of the department.


Requirements: 

High School Diploma or GED equivalent  required. Role may require specialty knowledge, skills, and abilities based on assignment in one or more of the following areas: equipment tracking, supplies management. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel. To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.

Relevant Experience:

Previous healthcare experience preferred.
