Today, GIR team members manage over $140 billion in sector, thematic and diversified portfolios, including long only equity and fixed income, and hedge funds and private equity funds.
**THE ROLE**
We are currently seeking to recruit an Equity Research Associate (RA) to join our Technology team, most likely based in Hong Kong or Singapore, although Tokyo will also be considered. The RA will focus on researching Technology companies in the APAC region, aiming to generate differentiated insights by asking innovative questions, anticipating trends, and identifying risks and potential disruptions in this rapidly evolving industry. The ideal candidate should be able to communicate and implement these ideas with a highly analytical and detailed approach. This individual will work closely with an experienced Global Industry Analyst in the APAC region, as well as with Equity Portfolio Managers and other Global Industry Analysts in the Global Technology team. * Maintain the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models;
* Contribute to written research and investment discussions, in various internal forums;

* Work to identify emerging research trends, and novel and investable developments.
**ESSENTIAL SKILLS**
We are seeking a self-motivated, diligent team player, with a passion for the Technology sector and for investing in APAC markets. The successful candidate will thrive in a highly collaborative investment environment, and will build strong, trusting relationships with colleagues globally. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to contribute to an open investment dialogue are essential. A growth mindset, characterized by flexibility and a willingness to continue learning, evolving, and growing as a Research Associate, is crucial. The RA will bring a global perspective and a creative approach to analyzing investment opportunities in the region.
The successful candidate is likely to possess the following qualifications:
* An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record;
* A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA), or progress towards one;
* Around 5 years of relevant professional experience, either gained in Buy or Sell side Technology equity or credit research, or an adjacent industry (e.g. corporate finance). Experience of Asia Semiconductors and/or Technology Hardware companies is highly preferrable;
* Strong financial modeling skills and analytical ability;
* Sound judgment, strong work ethic, and the highest levels of personal and professional integrity;
* Discipline, with a strong bottom-up fundamental approach to research;
* Self-awareness, resilience, and a comfort with being ‘wrong’;
* Ability to build relationships and collaborate with experienced, cross-functional investment teams;
