ER - Benefits Associate Analyst

General Description: The Employee Benefits Analyst Program provides in-depth training to prepare associates with technical expertise in financial analysis and benefit plan strategies. Throughout the training program, associates join a mentorship business group, led by industry experts, to further develop skills while increasing role specific levels of responsibility.
The program also offers organized activities for participants to meet senior executives and network with team members across business lines. This includes opportunities to get involved through our USI Gives Back campaign, where each of the company’s more than 200 offices volunteer in local community service.
Program Overview: The Employee Benefits Career Track Program provides over 950 hours of formalized training sessions and practical hands-on work experience.Months 1-3: 100% trainingMonths 4-6: 50% training; 50% fieldworkMonths 7-12: 20% training; 80% fieldworkNetworking and relationship-building skills
You will assist in all aspects of benefit plan financial analysis and reporting including: Create financial deliverables for a mixture of business segment clients.Utilize analytical tools, checklists, and templates to identify cost reduction opportunities.Illustrate insurance carrier renewals and new business proposals.Prepare market review analysis.Write summaries noting observations and findings.Set priorities and manage workflow of a partial book of business. Ensure efficient, timely, and accurate creation of analytic deliverables and other responsibilities.Receive assistance and guidance from team mentors. Keep current on industry and new product information, legislation, coverage, and technology. Active engagement and participation in trainings relative to the ER Career Track Program with emphasis on gaining knowledge necessary to perform Benefit Analyst role.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:Associate’s degree.Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.Ability to independently exercise time management skills and meet deadlines.High attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to follow policies, procedures, and regulations.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment.Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability.
Physical Demands:Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing.
Analysis of Physical Demands:Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend. Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
