**Job Summary**
The Environment, Safety and Health Training and Communications Program Manager serves as Battelle’s primary safety culture champion focused on implementing Battelle’s Safe Conduct of Research principles. This role leads Battelle’s ES&H training program and is accountable for developing and implementing a comprehensive, innovative training strategy that aligns with organization objectives, including identifying training needs, designing and presenting relevant programs, and assessing their impact on safety performance and safety culture. The role is also responsible for leading Batelle’s safety communications campaign, which is designed to engage and inform staff on matters related to safety requirements and safety culture.
**Responsibilities**
+ Creates and delivers effective ES&H compliance and safety culture training focused training to meet Battelle’s operational needs.
+ Designs, develops and delivers engaging, compliant, and effective refresher training options. Customizes content to align to team performance outcomes. Measures effectiveness and ensures proper application of training initiatives.
+ Provides thought leadership in responding to development needs, training requests, and consults on appropriate solutions. Assesses development methodologies that align with corporate values, desired competencies, and other requirements to support business needs.
+ Establishes, manages and communicates instructor-led training program delivery schedule.
+ Where web-based training is used, ensures content is appropriate and effective.
+ Develops training requirements compliance matrix in coordination with key stakeholders and assigns role-based training to staff using Battelle’s Learning Management System.
+ Prepares and communicates periodic training completion reports.
+ Conducts program audits and communicates results to key stakeholders.
+ Develop and deliver current, frequent, and effective safety-related communications applicable to Battelle operations. Partners with Battelle’s Learning & Development team to ensure alignment across initiatives, agreements and to ensure efficiency.
+ Understands current trends within the talent development industry; maintains knowledge of current and emerging methodologies and their practical applications.
+ Partners with Battelle’s Corporate Marketing and Communications to develop and implement Battelle’s safety program branding campaign.
+ Coordinates and collaborates with other Battelle culture improvement-based initiatives.

**Key Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Instructional Design or a related field.
+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in an ES&H related or technical training capacity.
+ Demonstrated experience driving safety culture improvement through development and implementation of innovative, engaging, and effective communication and training strategies.
+ Demonstrated ability to engage and influence leadership and all levels across the organization.
+ Knowledge of safety training requirements.
+ Knowledge of Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and standards.
+ Self-motivated and highly energetic individual, possessing exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills.
+ Strong writing skills.
+ Strong organizational and project management skills.
+ Experience with e-learning platforms and digital training tools.
+ Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design.
+ Ability to analyze training needs and evaluate training effectiveness.
+ Proficiency in using multimedia tools for training content creation.
+ This position may require occasional travel to various training locations.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience in a research environment such as private, academic, or government research.
+ Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent training-related certification.
+ Experience implementing OSHA Voluntary Protection Program or similar organizational safety culture initiatives.
