ESG Research Analyst (Global Sanctions Sector)

OVERVIEW  

ISS STOXX ESG’s Global Sanctions Sector is looking for new colleagues to join the research team in Manila. As an ESG Research Analyst you will assist the Global Sanctions Research team and will be focused on conducting research into individuals, companies, and corporate activities in the context of national and multilateral sanctions for ISS STOXX E Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) research and investment products.

Besides conducting research on individuals, companies and relevant corporate activities, our new colleague will, independently and in collaboration with the rest of the team, draft research reports on these individuals and companies, and in general contribute to the maintenance of high-quality ISS STOXX ESG products.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Independently and as part of a team conduct desktop research for ISS STOXX ESG’s sanctions-focused responsible investment products; this mainly includes research into individuals and companies designated under national and multilateral sanctions, and corporate involvement in specific activities covered by various national and multilateral sanctions frameworks.

Write research reports on these individuals and companies’ activities. These research reports can be of varying lengths and incorporate different degrees of detail.  

Participate in and contribute to team processes focused on strengthening our ESG product offering.

QUALIFICATIONS  

Bachelor’s degree holder, preferably on a topic related to political science, international relations, conflict studies, or similar.  

At least 2-4 years of relevant ESG research working/technical writing experience and deep interest in Sustainability/ESG/Environmental Management. Must have solid writing and research skills, including the ability to produce basic analysis.

Knowledge background/exposure: national or international sanctions, international law or international politics are highly desirable.  

Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.

Broad interest in the business and financial world.  

Must have attention to details, ability to work towards deadlines, and good at managing tasks and prioritizing.

Methodical and thorough approach to work.
