ISS STOXX is actively hiring for a dynamic Methodology Expert for our ESG Research team in Mumbai (Goregaon East).
Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical professional to join our expanding team. In this position, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of ESG research. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the wider ESG Research Methodology & Quality team to drive critical methodology development for corporate ESG assessments. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) research methodology to meet the increasing demand from our investor clients for actionable intelligence. This intelligence focuses on the activities of businesses and governments that create impacts, dependencies, and financial risks and opportunities for investors.
In addition to your research responsibilities, you will provide essential management support to our global team, ensuring high quality and efficiency, as well as handling administrative tasks. Collaboration will be key, as you will work with colleagues from various offices around the world.
Responsibilities:
Build a thorough understanding of ESG solutions with a focus on ESG Ratings, Norm-Based Research, Screening Solutions and SDG Impact Solutions
Lead on business-critical methodology projects comprising rating approaches, including rating scale, scoring system and thresholds, materiality assessments based on double materiality approach, defining performance requirements and data needs for indicators, etc.
Develop thematic expertise and contribute to product innovation and thought leadership efforts in areas such as corporate governance and human capital development
Further develop and leverage ESG methodologies for different asset classes spanning publicly listed entities, private entities and sovereigns to support scalable investor solutions
Monitor developments in the responsible investment space, review and affirm alignment of our methodology and quality approach with relevant existing and emerging regulatory and voluntary standards
Support methodology governance efforts including the development, review and, communication of guidance documents
Establish deep relationships and partner with data, research and, product teams to facilitate methodology developments and quality protocols
Educate internal and external stakeholders about our methodologies
Qualifications:
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as economics, finance, environmental science or international relations is desirable. Knowledge of financial markets and sustainable finance are an advantage
8-12 years of experience with ESG investor research or comparable services to the financial industry
Familiarity with ESG frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., GRI, TCFD, ESRS, IFRS)
Familiarity with ESG rating methodologies
Advanced technical (Excel-based) and analytical skills, particularly in the areas of quantitative research, analysis and data management as well as statistical analysis in an investment context (backtesting)
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in areas such as corporate governance, and/or human capital development
Organizational skills, attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
Ability to work within a team-oriented cross-functional environment and communicate with various internal parties; experience working with teams located in multiple cities and countries preferred
Fluency in English; additional language capabilities are an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
