ESH Inspector
Amentum
The Environment, Health, & Safety (EHS) Specialist provides professional support at the direction of an EHS Supervisor. This position is based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq. The EHS Specialist operates at and has level four responsibilities - evaluating successful field implementation of Amentum’s Safety Management System. This individual mentors EHS Technicians in full cycle risk management techniques.
**DUTIES**
+ Maintain a safe workplace, foster a SafeUp® culture aligned with all Environmental, Health, & Safety policies, and ensure safety is the highest value in the workplace.
+ Provide technical or specialist level support to employees, supervisors, managers (promulgate EHS centered work standards, rules, requirements, and guidelines).
+ Ensure line operators conduct EHS self-assessments, pre-planning, pre-trip inspection and monitor and mitigate exposures to meet the expectations of Amentum, clients, and local standards.
+ Perform full site EHS inspections to evaluate the integrity of the SMS (Safety Management System).
+ Report findings discovered while evaluating field operations during inspection and/or formal audit.
+ Ensure conformity to environmental requirements for hazardous materials and waste management, environmental permitting, spill prevention, and other local policies and procedures.
+ Assist with incident investigation of near misses, incidents, and injuries.
+ Offer recommendations for effective corrective action(s).
+ Architect incident/injury information, lessons learned, best practices, and corrective actions.
+ Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
+ Ensure that job classification training matrices appropriately identify training requirements per OTR (OSHA Training Requirements).
+ Ensure completion of required initial, annual, and emerging training needs.
+ Conducts site wide facility condition assessments evaluating existing hazard mitigation measures against the Hierarchy of Controls for effectiveness.
+ Mentor site EHS technicians.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**
+ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent K1-K12 completion.
**Minimum Acceptable Experience Level**
+ 3-5 years of EHS-related experience in an overseas government contracting environment.
+ An advanced understanding and application of 29 CFR 1910, NFPA Code, and ANSI standards, and a moderate understanding of international EHS laws and regulations
+ Familiarization with Environmental Laws including RCRA (Resource Conservation Recovery Act), 40 CFR 50-97 (Clean Air Act), 40 CFR 100-140 (Clean Water Act), 40 CFR 141-149 (Safe Drinking Water Act), and 40 CFR 195 (Toxic Substance Control Act)
+ Familiarization with EM 385 1-1, HAZMAT/GHS (Global Harmonized Standard)
+ OSHA 29 CFR 1910 30 Hour General Industry or 29 CFR 1926 Construction (must complete OSHA 30 Hour within one year of employment)
+ BCSP STS – (Safety Trained Supervisor) – within 8 months of employment.
+ A Professional License or University/College Occupational Health and Safety Certificate may be considered as “meeting educational requirements listed above” with at least one year of full-time internship or work experience.

+ Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
+ Excellent organizational and time management skills.
+ Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

+ Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
+ Facilitator/Trainer communication skills to teach advanced EHS subject matter.
+ Ability to multitask and operate as EHS Supervisor in the absence of leadership.
**Passport, Licenses, and Certifications:**
+ As part of pre-contingency requirements, **by the time the visa process starts** , candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining to the expiration date with 8 blank pages.
+ Must Poses Valid driver’s license.
**Security Vetting:**
+ Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification or US
+ Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position.
+ Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.
**Language Skills:**
+ Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
**Medical:**
+ Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq.
+ Must maintain physical and dental requirements for the duration of the deployment.
**Desired:**
+ Previous out-of-home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.
+ Experience working with AMENTUM.
+ ISO 45001:2018 OH&S/ ISO14001:2015 EMS/ ISO:2015 QMS or OHSAS 18001-2007 Lead Auditor
+ BCSP – CHST, OHST, STS
+ Continuing EHS education from BCSP, NEBOSH, ISO, OSHA, FEMA, or other accredited boards or universities/colleges.
+ International General Certification (NEBOSH&IOSH).
**WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:**
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
