About LaGuardia Community College
Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. LaGuardia Community College’s Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) seeks dynamic and innovative part-time ESOL instructors for its ESOL programs.
Responsibilities of this position will include:
+ Teach approximately 9 hours per week. There are two schedule options:
+ Evening ESOL program: 6:00 to 9:00 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
+ Evening ESOL program: 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
+ Create a communicative classroom environment for immigrant English language learners;
+ Lead students in contextualized ESOL lessons around such themes as parent engagement, college transition, civic engagement, career planning, job readiness, reading and writing skills;
+ Track student progress/ attendance and assisting the program with all required documentation;
This part-time position will be at an estimated salary of $40 per hour, plus 1.5 hours for prep time paid at the teaching rate.

Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree, plus a recognized TESOL certification or MA TESOL course work required.
+ Relevant and significant ESOL teaching experience required.

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
