JOB SUMMARY:

Are you a senior lawyer (+12 years’ experience) passionate about intellectual property, legal marketing, and regulatory compliance in a constantly evolving world? Would you like to be part of a multi-cultural global legal team, ensuring that our business adheres to IP laws and marketing regulations while providing expert counsel on legal matters in the ASIA region? Then this role is tailored for you

This role will be part of the Legal Establishment team that will drive the set-up, standalone design and implementation of all legal required structure and capabilities to enable Unilever’s Ice Cream business to become a fully functioning standalone company, separate from Unilever. The roles in the Legal Establishment team will sit with the Ice Cream business and will work closely with the Unilever Separation team. 

This role will support the legal lead the establishment team to design an end-to-end Legal function for this standalone company. This will require collaboration with business leaders, coordination across different functional and BU workstreams and overall set up of a future-fit Legal function for the standalone Ice Cream organisation.

The successful candidate will be one that has deep Legal functional expertise in his/her area with proven record of leading large-scale people transformation and has a passion for change management, simplification, communication, and a desire to make a meaningful impact.

This role will exist in its current form for ~12-15 months. We expect the separation process to have been concluded in this period with post-separation governance established.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will be part of the Legal Functional Lead and Chief Legal Officer teams that need to enable the success of a standalone Ice Cream company that is geared for future success as a market leader in its industry.

To do that, the key responsibilities of this role are:

1.     Legal Marketing Support:

o      Provide legal advice and support to the marketing and advertising teams to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

o      Review and approve marketing materials, campaigns, and promotions to mitigate legal risks.

o      Advise on issues related to digital marketing, social media, and e-commerce.

2.     Regulatory Compliance:

o      Ensure the company’s operations and products comply with local, regional, and international laws and regulations.

o      Monitor changes in legislation and advise the business on potential impacts.

3.     Contract Management:

o      Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including licensing agreements, distribution agreements, and partnership agreements.

o      Provide guidance on contract interpretation and dispute resolution.

4.     Risk Management:

o      Identify and assess legal risks associated with business operations and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.

5.     Cross-Functional Collaboration:

o      Work closely with various departments, including R&D, sales, and finance, to provide integrated legal support.

o      Act as a liaison between the legal department and other business units to ensure alignment on legal and business objectives.

6.     Training and Development:

o      Develop and deliver training programs on legal and compliance topics to employees.

o      Stay updated on legal trends and best practices to continuously improve the legal function.
