Estimator
This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the sales department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. Essential Functions: An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. + Create estimates for BMS (Building Management Systems). + Estimate material, labor, and subcontractor costs for system applications per plans/specifications. Organize the information in a clear manner to present to sales and leadership for bid. + Layout and design systems. + Work with Operations during bid reviews to ensure accurate estimates. + Perform analysis of collected data and metrics. + Qualify new opportunities. + Prepare technical scope of work proposals. + Attend sales meetings and training seminars. + Track sales activities and forecast sales opportunities in a customer management tool. + Use detailed spreadsheets and company-approved estimating tool (Studio 360) to calculate the projected costs of proposed projects + Review blueprints and product specifications to accurately determine the quantities of materials needed (use blue beam or other newer technologies when possible) + Solicit and review subcontractor proposals, assist with leveling, and help with contract negotiations + Document total materials needed, including detail regarding all codes, brands, and contact information necessary to process orders + Work with various involved parties, such as designers, architects, owner's reps, and general contractors + Manage workload in conjunction with the entire estimating team to schedule timing to allow for all estimates to be completed in a timely manner. + Provide feedback on our electrical contractor list for contractors to add or delete from our bidding list. + Attend job walk throughs as required on a project-by-project basis Requirements + Engineering degree or associates degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or a similar field is required. + Prior estimating experience is preferred. + Strong understanding of engineering concepts, mechanically skilled, detail-oriented and self-motivated. + Ability to take ownership of the job’s tasks and participate with a team in the initial planning and follow through to complete project estimates and to identify risks and opportunities while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude. + Commitment to “open door” and comfort with contact with all field employees. + Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation. + Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment requiring strong multi-tasking abilities. + Key leadership competencies in addition to high ethical standards, strong values, integrity, drive to deliver results, pride in personal and team performance, decision quality, building effective teams, and action orientation are fundamental imperatives. Salary $85k-$120k DOE.
