Estimator
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for overhead traveling bridge crane systems, runways, and related equipment. This role involves analyzing project specifications, material and labor costs, and collaborating with engineering, sales, and production teams to ensure comprehensive and competitive bids. Additionally, the role includes project coordination and document management with communication internally, and externally with customers and vendors. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial equipment, construction, or mechanical estimating. Estimator Role & Responsibilities + Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed cost estimates for overhead cranes, hoists, and related equipment, including materials, labor, freight and installation costs. + Project Analysis: Review and interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, and technical requirements to determine project scope and feasibility. + Supplier & Vendor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and vendors, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with project requirements. + Customer & Sales Support: Work closely with the sales team to develop competitive bids and proposals, providing technical and pricing support during negotiations. + Cost Analysis & Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality and performance. + Proposal Development: Prepare and submit formal quotations, including detailed pricing breakdowns, lead times, and technical specifications. + Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential project risks, including material availability, labor constraints, and compliance with industry standards. + Collaboration: Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution. + Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, cost fluctuations, and new materials or technologies to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency. Estimator Required Skills and Experience + KNOWLEDGE: A minimum of 3+ years of experience in manufacturing estimating. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field or combination of education and experience that illustrates a proven track record in this field is preferred. + SKILLS: + Experience with overhead cranes, material handling, or industrial manufacturing. + Familiarity with manufacturing processes, steel fabrication, mechanical components, and electrical systems. + Experience with estimating software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in complex spreadsheet design and VBA skills are strongly preferred. + Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and customers. + Manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + Experience in the overhead crane or material handling industry. + Knowledge of OSHA, CMAA, and ASME regulations related to crane systems. + Familiarity with structural and mechanical design principles. + ABILITY: A passion for providing top-notch customer service to our customers.
