As the ETO Design Engineer, you will be responsible for development and execution of customer-centric solutions for NEC markets. This role requires strong communication skills, ambition, drive, and extensive engineering experience, along with enthusiasm for product design. Responsibilities include designing to special customer requests through Engineered to Order (ETO) product designs, providing manufacturing support for manufacture of ETO designs, and offering technical leadership for ongoing customer inquiries. Reporting to the ETO Engineering Supervisor, you will independently develop and direct a broad range of product design projects, assuming responsibility for all technical project activities, including high-level product design elements.
Acts as the lead project take off support for ALP airfield lighting projects leveraging technical and project management skills to coordinate all activities during the project life cycleWork with internal and external sales and engineering resources to develop project plansSearch aggregator websites / open-source information for new opportunities and log opportunities and qualify them together with region RSMPerform project design tasks, including but not limited to; material and engineering services take-off, quotation, calculations development of scope documents, drawing layouts, submittal creation, release schedules, and post order documentation creationWorks with outside sales to develop cost-effective solutions to meet the customer and project needs.Identifies potential/actual problems requiring attention and provides alternative solutions when identified for project completion.Customer and Site visits as necessary to perform installation inspections, problem resolution, etc.Acts as the primary representative for internal project technical assistance Other duties as necessary.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering fieldMinimum of 4 years engineering experience with a preference for ETO design/order execution within a manufacturing environmentDevelop 2D drawings (mechanical & electrical) ERP & PLM experience • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office • Experience with design of mechanical parts that are manufactured with sandcasting, die casting, metal stamping, sheet metal and other machining processes.Experience working with a manufacturing environment for support of unique/quick turn orders.Strong proficiency in Solidworks 3D and AutoCAD 2D for assembly/part, mechanical drawing and electrical schematic creationEnovia and SAP-PLM/Cideon PLM (Product Life Cycle Management) experience SAP ERP System experienceKnowledge of UL/NEMA/NEC Standards, particularly in Power Distribution & Controls (e.g. 50/50E, 508/508A, 1203, 67)Experience with 3rd party certification requirements, particularly for Industrial and Harsh & Hazardous Locations (e.g. UL/CSA/ATEX)Experience with Electrical enclosure design and applicationsExperience with Industrial controls and circuit protection from various manufacturers Excellent written and verbal communication skillsSolid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skillsAbility to work in a virtual environment
