Role Description
We sell merchandise products for the World’s leading artists in the Music & Entertainment industry and this role involves reporting the VAT and associated requirements to the appropriate fiscal authorities in the 23 European countries we’re registered in. This requires accurate and timely reporting and excellent attention to detail. You will learn about our exciting merchandise and learn how to treat each product for each territory according to their requirements.
Therefore experience in preparing Intrastat reporting, EC Sales Lists and European VAT returns is an advantage.
Role Tasks
Preparation of Intrastat reports for each territory we report in, showing Intrastat movements from country to country, and tracking touring stock movements.
The candidate will need to be able to identify correct commodity codes. They will need to know how to assign the correct codes and keep themselves up to date on the codes currently in use.
Prepare EC Sales Lists for each European country.
Preparation of reports to be sent to our VAT consultants, for each territory we are required to prepare a VAT return in a timely manner.
Reconciliation of EU VAT reports with Trial Balance from Xero for each country.
Work with Tour managers regarding stock movement / stock quantities.
Understand Export/Import documents such as SAD documents.
Match SAD documents to commercial export invoices.
Monthly reconciliation of VAT accounts.
Monthly FX journals.
Making sure that VAT payments/refunds match reported figures.
Prepare invoices for goods movements and match them with commercial invoices and SAD documents and make sure correct VAT numbers are used on them in the correct currency.
Maintain a record of all sales and purchase invoices issued, including the VAT amount charged. Make sure all records are documented and kept in the same place.
Supporting Tax Authority/Internal/External audits & queries.
Assist with VAT registrations in new EU territories.
Miscellaneous VAT tasks and ad hoc project work within the wider finance team.
Core Skills Required
Part qualified accounting qualification.
Excel Skills – Intermediate level, including Pivot Tables and lookups.
The role involves dealing with large volumes of data, therefore extraction, sorting, cleansing and data analysis skills are required.
Experience using Xero accounting software.
Excellent attention to detail.
Music merchandise industry experience.
Experience posting accounting journals.
Ability to adapt and take on new challenges.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
Ability to operate using own initiative.
Proactive - display strong initiative and ability to identify and rectify issues.
