About this Position The Evendale Defense Combat Propulsion (EDCP) organization is responsible for the design, analysis, integration, and support of legacy and future military engine products. This position is focused on owning the Turbine Rear Frame module and leading a group engineers in executing design changes, engaging with systems and manufacturing programs towards the qualification of a new product introduction. In this role, you will own the design, development, & qualification of advanced military products components. The engineer will be responsible for executing technical design tasks including analysis, manufacturing support, and test of assigned hardware in addition to program management of hardware cost, weight, & schedule deliverables. This position reports to an engineering manager in Evendale, OH with the opportunity to integrate with various internal & external engineering disciplines. **Job Description** **Roles & Responsibilities** + Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of hot structural components for advanced military products. + Adhere to business standards, practices, procedures, & product requirements. + Leverages in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market + Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. + Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. + Demonstrate systems thinking mentality to understand how work of one's team integrates with others to achieve product requirements. + Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Will lead projects with significant business impact and resource requirements. Role requires strong partnership and collaboration with leadership to identify solutions. + Explains difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensus. Uses developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. + Develop strong internal and external customer relationships by serving as an interface point within GE. **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited university. + Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering + Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance. Prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. **Desired Characteristics** + Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical design engineering position. + Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS and 3D modelling software such as NX Unigraphics. + Experience with manufacturing of aerospace components. + Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of technical information. + Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills. + Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. + Highly motivated and passionate. + Established project management skills and ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. _This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
