Job Summary/Description:
WAVE is looking for its next evening anchor. This person must have a presence that breaks through the noise and grabs the viewer's attention. They must be a dynamic communicator who can handle a wide range of stories, but particularly thrives in breaking news, unscripted situations, and live reporting in the field. They will also be part of WAVE's award winning Troubleshooters investigative unit. Our next anchor will have a demonstrated track record of breaking investigative stories that have had impact, and made a real difference in their community.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent news judgment. Ideal candidate must be a self-starter, an excellent and clear communicator, and a team player.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BA degree in broadcasting or equivalent work experience
-At least 5 years of experience in a live media setting, in a newsroom, and prior experience as a primary anchor.
-Ability and desire to be a leader in a large, dynamic newsroom.
- Expert level ad libbing skills
- Excellent shooting, writing, and editing skills, and ability to work well with photojournalists.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
