Event and Marketing Manager

Our teams interact directly with our customers including students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the general public to provide outstanding customer service to sell or rent books, general merchandise, and an array of products and services for an academic community. **Overview** We are seeking a dynamic and strategic **Event and Marketing Manager** to join the team at the **Harvard COOP** , a historic and iconic retail and community hub serving Harvard University and the broader Cambridge area. This essential role bridges the COOP’s retail operations and its mission to foster deeper engagement and connection with the Harvard community. Responsibilities include crafting and executing innovative marketing strategies, planning and overseeing impactful events, and spearheading initiatives that strengthen relationships with students, faculty, alumni, and the local community. The Event and Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in boosting brand visibility, promoting store offerings, and creating memorable experiences. By leveraging data-driven insights and innovative ideas, this position will support financial goals, increase foot traffic, and elevate the COOP’s positionas a cornerstone of Harvard’s vibrant community. **Responsibilities** **Event Creation, Development, and Execution:** + Conceptualize, plan, and execute trade book events such as author signings, book launches, panel discussions, and community gatherings. + Coordinate with authors, publishers, and other stakeholders to bring engaging and impactful events to the store. + Ensure the smooth execution of events, including logistics, setup, and onsite support. + Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the Harvard COOP retail portfolio to drive alignment, innovation, and business growth. **Event Calendar Management:** + Develop and maintain a dynamic and strategic events calendar to drive consistent store traffic and engagement. + Coordinate event scheduling with internal stakeholders and external partners. + Monitor and adjust the event calendar to reflect seasonal and community priorities. **Marketing and Promotions Development:** + Create and implement marketing campaigns to promote events and drive sales, including Grad Fair, sidewalk sales, and community events. + Collaborate with internal teams to produce store marketing materials, such as social media posts, in-store displays, and promotional signage. **Community Engagement:** + Act as a representative of the Harvard COOP to strengthen relationships with local organizations, schools, and businesses. + Develop partnerships with community groups and publishers to enhance the Coop’s visibility and reputation. + Cultivate strong, strategic relationships with key stakeholders in Harvard Square to drive mutually beneficial partnerships and enhance business opportunities. **Reporting and Analysis:** + Provide insights and recommendations for future improvements based on data and customer feedback. + Evaluate the effectiveness of events and marketing campaigns by rigorously tracking and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement. + Additionalresponsibilities asrequired. **COVID-19 Considerations:** Our stores comply with all applicable federal, state and local requirements and/or recommendations regarding social distancing and sanitizing.
