Job Description:At Wegmans, our Events Services team helps to plan and execute events including private parties, off-site events and large-scale conferences. In this role, you will be responsible for the food and beverage service for the event, coordination of activities, and providing direction to banquet team members. You will ensure all events are successfully executed and clients are provided with incredible service and a one-of-a-kind experience.
What will I do?
Manage and develop a team of employees, engage in meaningful conversations, build trusted relationships and provide the resources, feedback, and development opportunities they need to be successfulManage the work of our contracted service staff, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently, and that events runs smoothly, consistently, meet client needs and are in line with our high standardsEnsure all roles, duties and stations are assigned to all servers ensuring they are knowledgeable about the event, menus, room layout and expectations, and ensure the banquet area is clean, organized and maintained at all timesFoster open communication with team members by planning and facilitating pre-event meetings and educating team members on products and processes in the departmentMaintain updated knowledge of hospitality and food service industry trends and implement new ideasProvide pre-event support including creating lists of needs and ensuring all supplies are pulled and ready for useManage vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and staffing needs, evaluating service levels and finding ways to continuously improve collaboration, efficiency and guest experienceEvaluate financial reports make recommendations and implement continuous improvements that decrease expenses and increase profitabilityRequired Qualifications
2 or more years of experience in a hospitality/event planning roleExperience coordinating events and leading banquetsEnthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant food and beverage products and servicesExperience prioritizing and delegating the work of othersComfortability speaking with external vendors on behalf of WegmansStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications
Experience managing vendor relationshipsExperience managing and developing a team in a restaurant, hotel or country club environmentExperience working at large-scale events
