**A Brief Overview**
The Event Specialist works directly with leadership to further the ongoing development and facilitation of events. This person is responsible for organizing and coordinating all aspects of marketing led events, from concept development to day of logistics. This includes managing budgets, selecting venues, vetting and booking vendors, overseeing logistics, and ensuring the event runs smoothly according to Avera's vision, all while maintaining timely delivery and staying within budget limitation. Event examples include ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, mixers, construction milestones, grand openings, and more. It is imperative that this person possesses an acute attention to detail and can communicate with people at all levels of an organization, can delegate tasks to colleagues and vendors alike, all while embodying the highest levels of the Avera CARE Standards of communication, attitude, responsiveness and engagement.
**What you will do**
+ Works directly with system PR/marketing department leaders to meet business objectives in relation to events.
+ Plans, coordinates and manages all facets of special events. Focuses on bringing positive public exposure through special events and public relations.
+ Creates and manages an annual plan of special events/projects. Creates and monitors budget and provides special reports on a monthly and annual basis or as requested.
+ Assists Community Partnerships team with other assignments, as needed.
+ Oversee cross-functional and volunteer teams at the local level.
+ Negotiates and assists with contract writing for vendors and suppliers and serves as the point of contact for them during planning and execution of all events.
+ Manages the many sponsored events that Avera has tickets for, ensuring that all seats are filled and attendees are well informed of the event details.
+ Is able to think and work independently, while also playing a key role on the overall Marketing team.
**Essential Qualifications**
The individual must be able to work the hours specified. **Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:**
+ Bachelor's Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality management, marketing or related field from a four-year college or university and two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire
+ 1-3 years Related experience.
