The event staff position at the Alumni House is responsible for providing operational functions before, during, and after events. The employee will assist with site set up, take down, monitoring, assisting clients, directing vendors and enforcement of venue policies. The employee must understand the venue’s desired image and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. **Responsibilities** Demonstrated ability to prioritize & change course of action quickly, communicate effectively, and ability to be flexible. Applicant must have a positive attitude and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Have a full understanding of the objectives of the event including assignments, guest needs, and monitoring procedures. * Continually monitor all areas of the building (restrooms, lobby, meeting spaces, etc.) to ensure the best representation and be aware of and handle issues of safety. * Set up each meeting space as per floor plan and event details using a Banquet Event Order with, but not limited to, tables, chairs, décor, AV, linens, and trash cans. * Build and maintain a professional relationship with clients, guests, vendors and co-workers being cooperative and helpful with any last-minute details or needs. * Fully participate in all set ups and tear downs. * Restore the venue after the completion of events to ensure the building is presentable to the public. * Monitor caterers, DJ, photographers and any other vendors involved with each event to ensure they are following venue policies. * Light custodial duties as necessary (restocking during an event, spill cleanup etc.) * This position will involve the ability to use hands, reach with hands and arms, stand, kneel and balance. * The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and walk up to several miles during an event. One year full-time customer service experience or equivalency, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
