Event Technician

Reporting to the Assistant Production Manager, we are seeking an **_Event Technician_** who will provide a professional and safe performance environment to the Peabody Institute students, faculty, staff, patrons and guests. This is a casual/as-needed position; hours are flexible and include daytime and evenings and weekends as appropriate to the staffing needs of the department.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Assists the production team in providing technical support for all choral, dance, opera, instrumental and orchestral performance needs at Peabody including lighting, audio visual, live audio mixing, sound reinforcement, management of equipment and administrative tasks related to stage management.
+ Works in close partnership with the Stage/Lighting and A/V Technicians, conductors, artistic directors and students to support the event production, audio-visual, sound and curricular needs of the school in order to achieve an excellent production and a quality learning opportunity.
**Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
+ Experience with lighting, audio set ups, video, stage lighting, stage production and rigging.
+ Professional demeanor, superior communication skills, comfort in high-pressure situations, adaptable, solutions-oriented problem solver.
+ Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to effectively prioritize workload.
+ Ability to work long hours and nontraditional shifts: evenings and weekends due to performance schedule.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Ability to walk, stand, climb for extended periods.
+ Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in production (theatrical or event)
+ Two to three years of experience in production or related field.
+ Additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Two to Four years of technical theater and crew management experience.
