Position Summary

The Events Supervisor is an integral member of Mt. Bachelor’s Events and Marketing Departments, will report directly to the Events Manager, will work closely with other department members, and assist in leading the events crew to execute operationally on the defined resort Events and Partnership programming for Mt. Bachelor, Sun Country Tours, and Woodward. This job requires an enthusiastic, high-energy individual who likes both the details involved in planning events and programming but more so, acts as the boots on the ground, having the physical skills and mindset required to execute to a high standard to ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable event experience and displays an ongoing commitment to lead a team to exceed guest expectations at all times.

The ability and desire to work a flexible schedule. Maintain flexible work hours with the ability to respond to changes in the work environment (weather, on-site events, etc.) and be available to work nights and weekends or travel as scheduling requires.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Supervise the Mt. Bachelor Events Crew.

Practice exceptional communication between the Events Crew, Marketing team, and all other departments involved in the day-to-day event execution and overall resort functions i.e. Receiving, Terrain Parks, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations, Food & Beverage, and any other on-mountain operations teams.

Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Mt. Bachelor guests at all times by following and ensuring all company and department safety policies and procedures by participating in all resort safety and service meetings, leading an internal safety huddle on a regular schedule, engaging in safety committee, document safety training for all Events crew and follow mountain safety policy.

Assist the Events Manager with hiring, training, and supervising the Events Crew 15 (Winter) and 8 (Summer) part-time, seasonal employees).

Assist Events Manager with employee scheduling.

Assist Events Manager with employee end-of-season evaluations.

Assist with the creation of pre-event planning & execution documents and assist with compiling post-event debriefs that include all relevant operational performance metrics (participation, risk management/safety, event timing and flow, etc).

Assist with leading Event set-up and tear-down (fencing, sponsor branding, tents, PA system, awards, registration, etc.).

Assist with leading event logistics and execution (course maintenance, timing systems, result tabulation, etc.).

Assist Event Manager with ensuring Safety compliance and ongoing Risk Management of event set-up and atmosphere.

Pro-active interest in ensuring proficiency and professionalism of event setup and providing training to Event Crew. (Appropriate use of equipment (eg. Radio protocol and usage) setting of race-course, timing systems functionality, results processing, etc.).

Assist with overseeing event supplies and materials – maintain inventory, assist Events Manager in placing orders to obtain or replace. Ensure upkeep to maintain cleanliness and ongoing functionality of equipment, tools, etc in the Event Storage area.

Assist with the execution of the resort's Fall Promotions Tour (Trade Shows, Movie Premieres, and sponsored events).

Assist with the execution of partner and sponsorship fulfillments.

Assist with execution of Mt. Bachelor’s in-market events – including local, regional, and national consumer trade shows and events, local and regional shop program activation, sponsored film premiere tours, and industry events.

Maintain flexible work hours with the ability to respond to changes in the work environment (weather, on-site events, etc.) and be available to work nights and weekends.

Practice outstanding time management in order to effectively accomplish all necessary tasks leading up to and during each event or experience.

Provide a high level of customer service to all guests, event competitors, 3rd party vendors, etc.

Identify and familiarize yourself with all Ski, Snowboard, and Bike industry events.

Previous on-snow/dirt event/Action Sports event production experience.

Secondary Function

Assist Human Resources in the execution of staff events, as needed and when able.

Assist other departments, such as Lifts on an on-call basis if front-line support, if needed.

Training: Yes – with the guidance of the Event Manager.

Disciplinary actions: Initial contact with Employee as necessary and communicate to Manager.

Performance review: Assist Manager in completion of mid-season and end-of-season.

Hiring/Termination: Assist the Manager as necessary.

Interpersonal Contacts

High level of interaction with guests, event vendors, and Mt. Bachelor Mountain Operations staff. The position will also interact with POWDR Resorts Partnerships Team, related to Partnership deliverables as needed.

Specific Job Skills 

License/Certifications: A current and valid driver’s License is required. Proficiently operate a Snowmobile to safely transport people and equipment as needed

Technical: Specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook is essential.

Physical Capabilities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to Ski or Snowboard, walk and/or climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is required to rake, shovel, or engage in other heavy labor, stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work venues are varied and in many cases include multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom of the area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via bike, chairlift(s), skis, or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped, and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out.

Additional: Advanced ski/snowboard and mountain biking ability. Advanced Snowmobile ability. Excellent organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail. Stamina to work weekends and or all scheduled event days, familiarity with the layout of Mt. Bachelor, passion for recreation, and events, and interest in marketing.

 

Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.

 

Education/Related Experience

Minimum education required: Four-year college degree, preferably with an emphasis on Events/Outdoor Recreation.

Minimum time in related position: Experience preferred in a similar role/professional resort events-focused position.

Current Hiring Rate: $20/hour

Minimum Age Requirement: 21+
