**Position Overview:** The Amgen India Head of Medical Affairs Scientific Communications and Publications will lead the development and execution of comprehensive scientific communication strategies across our therapeutic areas. This role is pivotal in shaping and disseminating scientific narratives that enhance the understanding and appreciation of our products among healthcare professionals, patients, and public health decision-makers.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Leadership and Strategy:**
+ Build and scale the Amgen India Scientific Communications and Publications capability and team, e.g. end to end Medical Communications hub.
+ Lead the Amgen India Scientific Communications (SciComm) Team across the Therapeutic Area (TA) portfolio, including both marketed products and pipeline molecules.
+ Partner with Global Medical Affairs strategy leads to develop and execute high-quality strategic plans and scientific content (publications, global medical content, payer-relevant content) in alignment with product and franchise strategies for Global and US markets.
+ Lead worldwide delivery of medical content for Global, US, and countries – including publications, medical education, congress content, medical information, and medical reviews.
+ Drive the adoption of innovative approaches and digital solutions to make complex scientific data more accessible and engaging, e.g., Gen AI for content development.
+ Ensure alignment of scientific messages across all platforms and materials.
+ **Team Management:**
+ Mentor, inspire, and manage a diverse team of scientific communication specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
+ Recruit, retain, and motivate high-performing staff, ensuring effective talent management and succession planning.
+ Provide structured training programs and hands-on projects to develop individual team members' skills and careers.
+ **Collaboration and Compliance:**
+ Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues to ensure alignment of scientific messages.
+ Partner with Amgen’s Global Commercial Capabilities team to build an integrated omnichannel platform.
+ Partner with commercial teams for the development of strategic plans for top-tier global congresses and oversight of medical lead activities.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant SciComm SOPs and systems, and evolve procedures to meet regulatory, legal, and industry guidelines.
+ Build and drive cross-functional solutions for US MLR submissions.
+ **Operational Excellence:**
+ Lead the cross-product prioritization process and resource allocation to meet program goals on time and within budget.
+ Manage and oversee vendor and agency partnerships, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
+ Manage and evolve systems and procedures to ensure use of appropriate technology innovations to drive operational efficiency, productivity, and adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
+ Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), key control indicators (KCIs), and key quality indicators (KQIs) to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
**Qualifications:**
+ **Basic Qualifications:**
+ Doctorate degree & 6 years of scientific communications experience OR
+ Master’s degree & 10 years of scientific communications experience OR
+ Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of scientific communications experience
+ 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources
+ **Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Advanced degree in a life science discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD)
+ Prior experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical industry
+ Previous leadership of a function and experience managing direct reports
+ Deep understanding of Good Publication Practices and familiarity with external guidelines (e.g., ICMJE, GPP)
+ Strong communication skills (written and verbal), time management, project planning, and ability to present to executives
+ Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry guidelines, regulatory and legal/health system environment
+ Finance and budget management experience
