Role description:
As an Executive Business Development Director for Toronto (GTAH), you will serve as an influential leader, driving Arcadis' growth, impact, and influence in your city. With a focus on business development, client relationships, and brand elevation, you will act as a networked dealmaker and strategic partner, identifying opportunities to accelerate revenue growth, deepen client engagement, and position Arcadis as a trusted leader in urban sustainability, digital transformation, and innovation.
Reporting to the Global Cities Director, you will collaborate across Business Areas (BAs), sectors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver profitable growth, build strategic partnerships, and enhance Arcadis’ presence within the local market. You will also play a critical role in shaping the city’s growth strategy, aligning global initiatives with local needs, and representing Arcadis as a thought leader on key urbanization topics.
This is a high-impact role that requires exceptional leadership, strategic foresight, and the ability to inspire and mobilize internal teams while building and strengthening long-term relationships with clients, government entities, and industry stakeholders. Role accountabilities:
Business Development:
Drive accelerated revenue growth within the city (GTAH) by influencing order intake, pursuit management, and teaming strategies. Focus on delivering profitable growth while creating a project pipeline and building a strong backlog of opportunities. Lead strategic pursuits that align with the city’s (GTAH) priorities and Arcadis’ vision for sustainable growth.Client Development:
Focus on priority clients and act as an Account Leader in alignment with BA strategy. Identify and nurture emerging clients to expand Arcadis’ reach and impact. Build and deepen relationships through networks and partnerships. Drive repeat business and cross-selling opportunities across disciplines. Enhance the client experience to foster loyalty and long-term partnerships. Brand Management & Thought LeadershipBrand & Thought Leadership:
Elevate our digital, sustainability, and urbanization leadership and brand Lead local brand recognition including reputational management Develop and participate in thought leadership on urban sustainability issues Localize global campaigns including speaking engagements with professional associations Engage in government affairs & media channels where appropriateKey Shared Accountabilities:
Together with BA Sales Director/Leaders to determine the priority clients, emerging clients, and growth strategy in the city. Work with BA Sales Director/Leaders in positioning and winning strategic pursuits. Work with marketing to develop, implement, and localize brand strategies (campaigns, events).Collaborate with Account Leaders in GTAH.
Qualifications & Experience:
With a proven track record of developing and executing sales strategies to drive profitable growth of client accounts within a city geography, this individual demonstrates the ability to lead with influence and persuasion across BAs. They possess a unique ability to think globally while executing effectively at the city level. Their significant leadership capabilities are evident in their talent for inspiring and uniting multi-disciplinary teams around a shared vision and common purpose.
Further required competencies and experiences:
Ability to influence, convince, and partner with internal stakeholders to achieve broader collaboration and shared strategy goals. Strong selling/marketing capabilities and ability to understand how different sectors or industries work in order to identify target clients impacted by market drivers and position for programs/projects to drive profitable growth. Ability to develop a multi-pronged business plan that enables the city (GTAH) to grow at above-market rates over several years. Capable of collaborating across BAs and sectors to effectively cross-sell and respond to market drivers. Balance strong internal leadership while maintaining enduring connections to the market and clients. You must be able to coordinate Arcadis’ various disciplines in Toronto to demonstrate how development, environment, and other services align to drive change. Must navigate and coordinate within a highly complex organization, bringing internal stakeholders together around common initiatives. The salary range for this position is CAD 155,150 - 291,850. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. #LI-Hybrid #LI-SE1
