Executive Chef

DoubleTree Hotel and Suites by the Galleria is looking for an experienced hands on Executive Chef with strong leadership skills and high creative abilities for menu design. Required Skills & Abilities:

-At least five (5) years preferred

-Flexible to work AM and PM shifts, mid-shifts, weekends and holidays

-Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written

-Must be able to stand/walk for at least eight (8) hours and lift/carry at least 25-30 pounds

-Current Food Handler Certification Required

 

Job Description:

-Manage all aspects of kitchen and culinary operations including food and labor cost, inventory, sanitization, ordering, proper handling/storage of all food items according to required standard.

-Interview, hire, provide hands on training for new hires and implement development plans for staff.

-Create new menu items, test and write recipes to attract desired customer market.  

-Establish and achieve profit objectives and desired standards of quality food, cleanliness, and ensure all culinary staff consistently follows recipes and yield guidelines with high food quality standards.

-Assist catering sales management with developing special menus for functions and meet with clients as requested.

-Regularly review and evaluate the degree of food quality for outlets and banquets. Create new menu ideas/recipes whenever declining or constant sales imply dissatisfaction by customers, customer market or change in the competitive surroundings.
