Executive Director, Board Relations - Foundation

The **Executive Director, Board Relations- Foundation** is responsible for the oversight of the functionality and operations of the overall Network Foundation Board of Directors and the individual hospital foundation boards of directors and the interconnection and relationships between the operating board(s) and the foundation board(s). In collaboration with the VP, Strategic Programs, the Executive Director, Board Relations is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring initiatives associated with the HMH Foundation¿s Boards of Directors. The Executive Director, Board Relations also serves as the liaison between the Network Board of Directors, the HMH Boards of Directors and senior Network and Foundation leaders. **Responsibilities** A day in the life of an **Executive Director, Board Relations - Foundation** at **Hackensack Meridian** **_Health_** includes: + Develops, executes and monitors a comprehensive Board Engagement program, including recruitment, orientation, retention, development and assessment/evaluation. + Oversees the development and delivery of all content and logistics related to Board events and meetings. + Manages the Board program budget. + Oversees the overall coordination of the standing and ad-hoc committees of the Board(s). + Liaises with legal and finance departments to comply with fiduciary responsibilities of the Board, including topics such as ethics and compliance reviews, audit reports and Board governance processes. + Upholds the policies and procedures centering around term limits, membership matrices and roles and responsibilities. + Liaises with the Development team on cultivation, solicitation and stewardship and ongoing engagement of current and former Board members. + Develops and manages the orientation process for new board members ensuring new board members are oriented in a thorough and timely fashion. + Works collaboratively with Foundation team members at the hospital level to support the engagement of board members to host awareness building and networking forums and cultivation events. + Maintains board giving records to ensure 100% participation and board members meeting giving requirements. + Monitors fundraising board trends. + Serves as an internal resource for all board-related matters. + Oversees scheduling, records management, meeting agendas, minutes and administrative reporting. + Responsible for accurate maintenance of master records of committee members and committee charters. + Other duties and/or projects as assigned. + Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. + It is understood that the Executive Director's role will evolve or change with the priority needs and direction of HMHF, as determined by the Chief Development Officer of HMHF. **Qualifications** **Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:** + Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required. + A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in major gift fundraising at a hospital, educational institution or not-for-profit organization. + A minimum of five years of experience in working intimately with Boards of Directors with an established track record of effectively recruiting and building engagement of volunteer leaders in a complex not-for-profit organization. + Experience working in board relations in a complex health care environment. + An articulate, genuine touch; professional enthusiasm; ability to innovate and be resourceful; a strong work ethic; superior oral and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills. + Collegial team player able to interact effectively with diverse internal and external constituencies. + Effective in a fast-paced environment and eager to contribute to the collaborative goals of an organization. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments and deadlines. + Highly functional with Google Office. **Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:** + Working knowledge of fundraising principles and practices desirable.
