To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com (https://www.cibc.com/en/about-cibc.html) **What You’ll Be Doing** The Institutional Structuring Group is part of CIBC’s Global Markets team and in this role, the Director will support the Quantitative Investment Strategy development for the Financial Institutions as well as Retail client space through the development of innovative and tailored Commodity and Commodity Derivative solutions. The successful candidate will have experience on volatility based solutions. This role is an opportunity for someone looking to grow their skill set and knowledge of Capital Markets in general. The goal of CIBC Capital Markets is to be the premier client-focused wholesale bank based in Canada. To deliver on this, the wholesale banking arm of CIBC provides a wide range of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and in key markets around the world. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview. **How You’ll Succeed** + Assist the Structuring Group with their daily activities and administrative tasks, including but not limited to the following: + Pro-actively generating Cross Asset Derivatives as well as Quantitative Investment Strategy (Systematic Indices) ideas that are value-add to Financial Institutions with particular emphasis on Commodities and Commodity volatility. + Quickly and efficiently respond to Derivative pricing requests from sales staff and clients. Derivative Pricing capabilities in multiple asset classes would be an asset. + Perform various market analysis in support of new product idea development + Knowledge of Commodity markets is a huge plus + Perform analysis on strategies using back-testing + Creation of marketing material + Collaborate and partner with other groups in Capital Markets to provide best in class solution for the client + On your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of Global Markets. Attend learning sessions hosted by the Continuous Learning Program as required. **Who You Are** + Knowledge of business/economics typically acquired through a university degree and/or a combination of education and industry experience. Degrees in Mathematics and Engineering disciplines strongly preferred. + Knowledge of Commodity Financial Market derivatives and systematic strategies acquired through a minimum of 7 years’ experience + Knowledge of current financial markets, and an understanding of current market as well as derivative transaction pricing + Able to very quickly acquire knowledge, to demonstrate competence and to add value to the transaction and client relationships + Confident, assertive, and able to function in a fast-paced environment1 + Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fluid environment while maintaining focus + Strong inter-personal skills, selling skills, and team player skills + Strong multi-tasking and time management skills + Python and SQL knowledge would be an asset + Ability to work and resolve problems independently + **Values matter to you.** You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork, and accountability. **Conduct and Risk Culture** Our CIBC risk culture is based on employees striving to exceed the expectations of ourselves and our leadership’s identification and mitigation of risks in their daily responsibilities, not just in quarterly or annual monitoring/assessments. This role has an expected salary range of USD$200,000 in the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
