Reporting to the President of The Christ Hospital Foundation, the Executive Director of Development has a comprehensive charge to manage major gift cultivation and acquisition processes through a donor-centric approach while supporting the expansion of the donor pipeline for The Christ Hospital Health Network (Network). Playing an essential role in the organization’s continued growth and impact on the Network, the Executive Director will support the team’s organizational priorities of fostering a strong culture of philanthropy, innovating work, amplifying the philanthropic vision, and elevating the donor experience.
The Executive Director manages the team’s portfolio-based major gift officers, who focus on supporting multiple service lines and priority areas while also collaborating with The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences. This role requires strong collaboration with the Foundation’s other strategic leaders in donor experience and operations to ensure that teams effectively drive and implement strategy in an integrated fashion. The Executive Director is responsible for the direct team’s effective portfolio management and pipeline expansion efforts. This role also maintains a robust major and principal gift portfolio with expected annual individual productivity.
Working closely with the President of the Foundation, the Executive Director will implement comprehensive strategies related to campaign planning and execution, physician liaison relationships, principal gift strategies, Foundation board engagement, and comprehensive priority-setting and vision development. The Executive Director will collaborate with the President of the Foundation, the Director of Donor Experience, and the Director of Operations to elevate initiatives for gift planning, donor relations, events and experiences, communications, gift processing, prospect research, reporting, and a robust grateful patient fundraising program.
The Executive Director of Development must have a solid understanding of creative ways to structure major gifts for the maximum benefit of both parties. They must be a highly energetic and motivated professional with a track record of building donor relationships and securing six-figure gifts or higher. Additionally, the Executive Director should have extensive managerial experience, proven ability to lead people to achieve their goals and to coach team members through their ongoing growth and development.
The Executive Director of Development must possess strong organizational, communication, administrative, and problem-solving skills and be capable of interacting with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment. They should remain flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient under pressure, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will thrive in a positive team environment, promote a collegial atmosphere within the Foundation, and work cooperatively with all team members to help them and the Foundation.
