Major accountabilities:
Develop and execute US disease strategy to ensure innovation, productivity, and feasibility;Proactively manage risks and issues;Ensure delivery of development activities across all compound’s related to the disease area, to cost, time and quality;Ensure effective team dynamics, performance, prioritization, and communication.Act as key point of contact with US Medical Affairs Leadership team and Global teams.Accountable for elaborating and establishing strategic plan (activities, timelines) for the disease to enable execution according to the US BU goals, approved Global Development & Profiling Strategy for the disease and compounds. Works with US Medical Affairs Disease Medical Leads and Medical Compound Leads to ensure strategic alignment of sub-teams (e.g., US clinical team) and alignment with agreed Global Program Team (GPT) strategy, development plan, global disease area strategy and the US brand, Therapeutic Area, and market access plans. US Lead accountable for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with counterparts in the Global Line Functions and respective teams. Responsible for quality, accuracy, and maintenance of the integrated disease program plan.Develops the overall integrated disease strategy and scenario generation of the program.Partner with external experts in disease area to gain insights and inform strategic plan; act as primary contact between Novartis disease team and external experts to describe disease area strategy to external stakeholders.Work Experience:
Experience in leading design and execution of Phase 4 trialsAdvanced program management skills.Team facilitation skills that can help with objective setting for the team and the collective achievement of the objectives.Strong leadership presence with the ability to present and interact with senior management.Strength demonstrated in strategic decision making, scenario evaluation and contingency planning.Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for driving a program to effective implementation, and for managing effective internal and external collaborations; strong verbal communication, expert in written communications, expert team player.Minimum Requirements:
10+ years industry experience (of which 2+ years or equivalent multi-/cross-functional leadership experience preferred, and 5+ years’ experience in therapeutic area required). Managerial experience preferred.Subject matter expert in cardiovascular disease and experience working in and leading CV programs in the pharmaceutical industry required.Previous track record of success in working with and leading large scale and complex multidisciplinary drug development teams (or other large cross-functional teams related to pharmaceutical drug development).Expert knowledge in drug development (including early and late-stage development).Experience in leading design and execution of Phase 4 trialsAdvanced program management skills.Ability to travel within the US and internationally (occasionally) including scientific congresses (20% of time).Education:
MD, PhD, PharmD, Masters or Doctoral in life sciences/chemistry or Bachelor of Science plus MBA required.MD preferred.The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $248,500.00 and $461,500.00 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
