Executive Director, Private Banking Compliance

Forming part of the J.P. Morgan SE Private Banking Compliance team you will lead a team of Compliance professionals responsible for the execution of line of business Compliance program across JPMSE head office and EEA branches, working closely with colleagues in London and Geneva.

As an Executive Director of Private Banking Compliance within our EMEA team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders across our three lines of defence, offering Compliance advisory services to Private Bank personnel in Luxembourg, Frankfurt, and all EEA branches. Your role will encompass tasks related to regulatory interaction with the Private Bank, crafting specific responses to supervisory bodies, and participating in relevant examination or deep dive activities, particularly with external auditors, CSSF, or ECB. You will engage significantly with regional teams across the compliance framework, Regulatory Management, and advisory teams to maintain consistency and ensure local considerations are adequately addressed. Leveraging your robust regulatory and compliance background, you will provide advice on core compliance obligations within the European regulatory framework. Your reporting lines will be to the Head of Wealth Management Compliance EMEA and the Luxembourg Chief Compliance Officer.

Job Responsibilities

Lead a team providing Compliance advice to support the PB business in particular but not limited to EU regulation and banking requirements covering governance, outsourcing, ESG, cross border, review of new products, conflicts and fiduciary risk;  Partner with Regional and Global Compliance to ensure consistency and leverage best practices for the PB business; Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes (e.g. MiFID, MAR, SFDR, GDPR etc.,) and provide advice to enable the business to implement changes and operate in a compliant and controlled manner; Review regulations and related regulatory mapping analyses, and work with divisional partners to advise the relevant owners on the development of policies and procedures within the legal entity and across other group legal entities as necessary; Develop close working relationships with management within the bank and line business to engender a culture of compliance within the business; Oversee the team in the performance of the Compliance risk assessment, testing and monitoring program, and new business regulatory reviews and where necessary coordinate within the legal entity and  across other group legal entities as necessary; Participate in day-to-day PB communications with regulators, supporting Regulatory Management and when needed act as the lead SME for the PB LOB on relevant external audits, regulatory examinations, reviews, information requests or other specific deliverables;

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

Strong technical background and experience in a Compliance, Legal or Risk Management environment in banking of financial services, focusing on detailed regulatory and control requirements and their practical implementation; Developed leadership skills, with the capability and willingness to lead by example, and ensure appropriate discipline around management of risks and people management; Ability to influence at senior forums by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with the businesses in-country and regionally, key stakeholders and regional control partners. . Ability to offer robust and constructive challenge, at all corporate title levels and across different disciplines. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into comprehensible messages for a range of audiences and levels; Ability to consistently deliver high quality results on the local and firm-wide Compliance program;  Team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills. Self-motivated, positive professional and can-do attitude.  Strong judgement and an ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized manner, prioritize, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.  University graduate in finance, law or other related discipline

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

Previous experience in dealing with and maintaining relationships with the CSSF, ECB or European or Global regulators within a large and complex financial services firm or experience working at a relevant regulator Strong command of English language skills combined with French and/or German language skills preferred.
