Title: Executive Director, Total Rewards & Operations Location: Brisbane, CA About Us: Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Vera's mission is to advance treatments that target the source of immunologic diseases in order to change the standard of care for patients. Vera's lead product candidate is atacicept, a fully humanized fusion protein self-administered at home as a subcutaneous weekly injection that blocks both B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF) and A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL), which stimulate B cells to produce autoantibodies contributing to certain autoimmune diseases, including IgA nephropathy. Position Summary: As a key senior leader of the HR team, this individual will have the opportunity to make a significant impact via strategic planning, design, evaluation, communication, and overall management of employee compensation, equity programs, and benefits. This role requires in-depth knowledge and experience on designing and advising on global total rewards programs, and this leader must have an established track record of applying their expertise to deliver innovative, successful approaches to talent attraction and retention that are culturally relevant and locally competitive. In addition, the ideal candidate will be a strong leader capable of driving performance through effective mentorship, clear communication, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and high-performing team. Responsibilities: * Lead the strategic and creative design and execution of a global compensation, benefits, and equity programs. Develop specifications for new plans or modify existing programs to ensure company's competitive market position and explore and implement innovative programs. * Develop and lead all aspects of the compensation processes and programs to include job evaluations, benchmarking, merit and promotion processes (with an emphasis on equity and inclusion while rewarding a results-based, high-performance culture). * Establish and measure key metrics, benchmarking the company's total rewards programs and assessing external trends to ensure market competitiveness and equity. Build and maintain dashboards to provide visibility on pay parity and progression metrics to support the company's practices of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce. * Prepare materials for the Board of Directors and Compensation Committee, providing insights and recommendations on executive compensation, board compensation, and total rewards strategies. * Contribute to the analytics capabilities within the function to provide data-driven insights and highlight areas for improvement to drive practices and decision-making. * Partner with cross-functional team members to develop and execute reward and recognition practices, building strong and scalable processes. * Design and manage comprehensive global compensation and benefits programs (i.e. health and wellness, retirement, and other employee benefits) in collaboration with the Senior Vice President, HR. * Lead the benefit renewals and open enrollment process; design and implement wellness programs for a diverse workforce to incorporate both corporate-based and field employees. * Facilitate organizational change actions and communications regarding revised business processes to assist with organizational acceptance. * Oversee all HR compliance; including required trainings, policies, processes, etc. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR Certification designation (e.g. SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CBP, CCP). * 12+ years direct experience in Compensation, Benefits, and Equity with 7 years leading this function, preferably in the life science industry. * Proven experience supporting the SVP, HR with BOD and Comp. Committee materials. * Broad experience with variable compensation programs (short-term incentive bonus design, sales compensation design, and long-term incentive design) and knowledge of competitive and proven practices. * Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable processes and technology solutions to drive operational efficiency and support company growth. * Strong influencing, engagement, and partnership skills across all organizational levels. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and robust analytical and quantitative skills. * Demonstrated ability to handle competing priorities, operate in a pro-active manner, and possess a results and solutions-oriented mindset. * Ability to work on sophisticated HR problems where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors including legal regulations, company culture and strategy, and standard methodologies. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is starting at $202,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
