**Job Summary**
The Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) oversees the strategic planning, operational management, and delivery of high-quality emergency medical services within the facility and its service area. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while aligning departmental goals with organizational objectives. The Director is responsible for leading a team of EMS professionals, managing budgets, and fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient operation of EMS services.
**Essential Functions**
+ Provides leadership and oversight for all EMS operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality emergency medical care.
+ Develops and implements policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
+ Prepares and manages the EMS department's budget, monitoring expenditures, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
+ Evaluates the performance of EMS operations and staff, implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
+ Collaborates with local emergency management, law enforcement, and healthcare organizations to coordinate services and maintain strong community relationships.
+ Oversees the maintenance and readiness of EMS vehicles, equipment, and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
+ Monitors response times and operational metrics, making adjustments to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Serves as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, coordinating inspections and audits as required.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
+ Master's Degree in Emergency Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
+ 4-6 years of progressive leadership experience in emergency medical services or a related field required
+ 3-5 years of experience as a paramedic or in an advanced EMS role, demonstrating expertise in direct patient care and operational efficiency required
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ In-depth knowledge of EMS operations, regulations, and accreditation standards.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement operational improvements.
+ Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
+ Skilled in crisis management and emergency response coordination.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ LP - Licensed Paramedic required
+ BCLS - Basic Life Support required
+ ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
