Job Title: Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity Executive Director
Location: Headquartered in Eau Claire, WI but covering a 4 county area.
Organization Overview:
Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity is a dynamic and rapidly growing nonprofit organization dedicated to building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Serving the Chippewa Valley region, we work in partnership with volunteers, donors, and local families to construct and renovate homes for those in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing. By offering no-interest loans and requiring sweat equity from homeowners, we empower families to achieve financial independence and build a secure future.
Our organization currently has a dedicated team of 4 full-time and 5 part-time staff, supported by over 475 committed volunteers. With an approximate $2 million annual operating budget, we are well-equipped to make a significant impact in the community. In addition to our home construction efforts, we operate a retail store that sells donated building materials, furniture, and home goods. This store not only provides affordable items to the community but also generates crucial revenue to fund our housing projects.

Job Summary:
The Executive Director of Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity is responsible for implementing the organization’s strategic plan and overseeing all operational functions. This includes reporting to the Board of Directors, managing and supervising staff, creating and managing budgets, handling public relations, driving fund development and donor relations, supporting the retail store and management team to enhance growth and profitability, and providing overall operational oversight as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement the strategic plan of the organization as set by the Board of Directors.
Oversee all operational functions, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations.
Report regularly to the Board of Directors on organizational performance, challenges, and opportunities.
Manage and supervise staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Create and manage the organization’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
Lead public relations efforts to enhance the organization’s visibility and community engagement.
Drive fund development initiatives, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with donors.
Support the retail store and management team in increasing growth and profitability.
Provide operational oversight in all areas as needed to ensure organizational success.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a strong record of accomplishment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven management and leadership experience.
Previous experience in budget management.
Proficiency in computer skills.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
General understanding of construction and the building process.
Experience in fundraising and donor cultivation.
Public relations experience, particularly in community relations and media engagement.
Experience in developing community relationships and programs.
Previous experience as an Executive Director or in a similar leadership role.
