**Description** **This Executive Director, Cardiovascular (Heart) Clinical Institute job is HYBRID within Providence footprint.** The Clinical Institutes within the South Division of Providence Health are specialized centers of excellence dedicated to promoting excellence in care across various medical specialties. Each institute is responsible for driving clinical innovation, improving patient outcomes, and facilitating the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within their specific area of expertise. The Executive Director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Institute is responsible for partnering with local stakeholders to execute strategic and operational initiatives that are in line with the organization's mission and vision. This role involves collaborating closely with the AVP to develop strategies that enhance revenue, expand services, and improve patient access. The Executive Director champions the integration of clinical services across the division. In addition, they are responsible for guiding the development of centers of excellence to optimize service outcomes and streamline complex services. The Executive Director oversees the daily workings of the clinical institute, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. The role encompasses significant financial stewardship, requiring budget management and implementing cost-efficient strategies without compromising service quality. This position entails maintaining robust relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring continuous adherence to regulatory standards, all while mentoring team members and promoting a collaborative work environment. The Executive Director carries out these responsibilities while being prepared to undertake additional duties to meet organizational priorities and needs. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Strategic Leadership + Partner with local stakeholders on the execution of strategic initiatives for the Cardiovascular clinical institute provided in alignment with Providence Health's mission and vision. + Collaborate with the AVP to explore and implement strategies for revenue enhancement, service expansion, and patient access improvement + Champion the integration of clinical services across the division to ensure seamless care delivery and advance the maturity of the Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). + Guide the development of centers of excellence, optimizing the volume-outcome relationship and consolidating complex services. + Organizational Oversight + Direct overall operations of the clinical institute, ensuring full compliance with healthcare regulations and adherence to organizational policies. + Collaborate with the AVP and the Research, Education, and Healthcare (REH) team to discern new products and procedures. + Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration across the division, setting standards for best practices and cooperative initiatives. + Financial Stewardship + Work with the AVP to develop the Cardiovascular clinical institute budget and remain accountable for managing to the budget through budget tracking and implementing fiscal strategies that ensure responsible resource allocation. + Implement opportunities, including those identified by the AVP, to improve cost efficiency. + Drive sustainable financial growth by promoting clinical effectiveness and reducing unnecessary variation and avoiding duplication of services. + Promote value-based care delivery models. + Quality and Performance Enhancement + Ensure division adoption of state-of-the-art clinical practices and technologies to drive innovation within the institutes. + Spearhead initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency. Utilize benchmarking data to identify and implement improvement opportunities + Regularly evaluate clinical services performance, establishing and monitoring KPIs to ensure program effectiveness. Collaborate with clinical data analytical teams to provide actionable data and tools that are relevant to ministry leadership teams. + Foster a culture of excellence and innovation in clinical practice and care delivery. Partner with the AVP to seek and facilitate specialty accreditations to further clinical excellence and patient experience. + Promote high reliability organization (HRO) principles. + Team Leadership and Organizational Development + Mentor and support institute senior program managers and program managers, nurturing leadership skills and professional growth. + Encourage a diverse, collaborative, and high-performing organizational culture. + Effectively communicate and collaborate across interdisciplinary teams within the ministries and PCN. + Stakeholder Relations + Establish and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders, including internal leadership, medical staff, and external community partners. + Represent the Cardiovascular clinical institute at internal and external forums. + Act as thought partners to ministry, service area and divisional leaders to bring subject matter expertise to the fore to ensure continuous improvement. + Regulatory Compliance and Innovation + Ensure that all clinical activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards. Provide updates to ministry and service area leadership and assist with preparing for regular reviews and audits. + Stay informed about changes in healthcare policy and legislation that may impact the clinical programs within the Cardiovascular clinical institute. + Develop and update policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care and operational integrity and exceed regulatory and accreditation requirements. + Collaborate with the AVP to define approach and eligibility for new and innovative care delivery models (bundled payment models, TEAM, episodes of care, NCDs). + Collaborate with System research teams to align clinical research with divisional compliance standards. + General Responsibilities + Execute any additional duties as assigned, ensuring the fulfillment of organizational priorities and needs. **QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Business, Economics or related field. + Master's Degree (preferred). + 5 years of progressive management experience in healthcare across the continuum with in-depth knowledge specific to the Cardiovascular clinical program. + Experience in an innovative, multi-site regionally integrated health system. + Physician and medical group alignment and integration experience. + Experience with clinical trials and grant development (preferred). + Experience with academic and community partnership models (preferred). + Significant experience leading teams, group facilitation, project management, and building management systems. + Demonstrated experience and success developing and implementing innovative clinical program growth strategies, physician and payer alignment, and consumer. engagement models in a highly competitive and complex market environment. + Experience building clinical programs across the continuum of care, including ambulatory, acute and post-acute care, medical group, home and community-based sites. + Demonstrated experience creating a culture of excellence, including quality and service improvement. + Experience developing and implementing balanced scorecards. + A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; track record of developing collaborative and effective working relationships with physicians, clinicians, management, colleagues and peers; ability to motivate, lead and influence others to implement key strategies. + Knowledge and understanding of emerging health care, market and technology trends, including forces influencing the growth, utilization and delivery of services. + Leadership skills including ability to prioritize and organize work; flexibility and agility to process information and adapt quickly to a changing healthcare environment; create goals and accountability; lead projects from concept to implementation in a timely manner; and achieve results. + Strong customer focus with physicians, management, colleagues, internal and external stakeholders. + Financial management skills including healthcare budgeting and financing, pricing, revenue optimization, reimbursement and payment models, and cost management. + Familiarity with business intelligence tools including benchmarking best practices, data tracking and monitoring outcomes; experience developing and implementing balanced scorecards. Understands the importance of data quality, transparency and privacy concerns. + Skills in change management, Six Sigma, Lean and/or other continuous performance improvement techniques. + Understand and be comfortable in a complex matrix structured organization. + Strong professional ethics including a commitment to advance Providence’s Mission, Vision and Core Values. + Strong self-motivational skills and be able to function independently without direct supervision while involving and requesting assistance from the CSO, Regional Leadership, Hospital Administration, and others, when appropriate. + Strong strategic planning, business development, physician relations, project management and business skills.
