Responsibilities

New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe) is seeking a highly experienced strategic Executive Director of Security to oversee the security operations for our national portfolio of properties. This senior leadership role will be responsible for establishing and enforcing comprehensive security, emergency management, and fire safety protocols. The Executive Director will provide day-to-day oversight of both in-house and third-party security staff, manage budgeting and capital planning for security staffing, equipment, and IT needs, and ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all locations.

 

Security Protocols Development & Implementation:Develop and implement security policies and procedures for the national portfolio of properties.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding security and safety.Conduct regular risk assessments and update protocols as needed to address emerging threats.Emergency Management & Fire Safety:Establish and manage emergency management plans, including response strategies for various types of emergencies.Oversee the development and execution of fire safety protocols and conduct regular fire and active shooter drills.Coordinate with local police and fire departments and emergency services to ensure effective crisis response.Staff Oversight & Management:Supervise and support in-house security teams and manage relationships with third-party security service providers.Develop training programs for security personnel to ensure they are well-prepared for all aspects of their roles.Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to enhance staff effectiveness.Budgeting & Capital Planning:Develop and manage the security budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources for staffing, equipment, and technology.Plan and oversee capital expenditures related to security infrastructure and IT systems.Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.Technology & Equipment Management:Oversee the procurement and maintenance of security equipment, including surveillance systems, access control systems, and other technology.Stay current with industry trends and advancements to recommend and implement cutting-edge security technologies.Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration:Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters with NYBCe personnel, property management teams, tenants, and other internal and external partners.Foster strong relationships with law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and other relevant entities.Compliance & Reporting:Ensure all security practices meet regulatory compliance requirements and internal standards.Prepare and present regular reports on security operations, incidents, and improvements to senior management.Any related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Business Administration (with a focus in security management), or a related field. 

Experience:

Minimum of 12 years of experience in security management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple sites.Experience in emergency management, fire safety, and risk assessment.

Licenses / Certification

Professional certification preferred (e.g., Certified Protection Professional/CPP), Physical Security Professional/PSP, Professional Certified Investigator/PCI).Valid Driver’s License is required.

 

Travel: 25% with occasional overnight stays

 

Knowledge:

Proficiency with security technology and equipment.

Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

Skills & Abilities

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively supervise both in-house and third-party security staff.Strong budgeting and financial management skillsExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders Capability to handle emergency situations with composure and decisiveness. Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one.Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and customers in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $215,000.00p/yr. to $225,00.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

 

Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.
