Summary

The Executive General Adjuster must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision handling larger and/or complex commercial property claims in a prompt, equitable, and professional manner. An EGA must have the ability to engage and direct experts of all disciplines, analyze coverage, and report accurate estimates of damage while managing all damage components of the loss. The EGA negotiates settlements to the conclusion of assigned claims and manages assisting adjusters if field assistance is required.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Examine claims forms, policies, client instructions, and other records to assist their client in determining coverage. Reviews complex financial data, inventories, contracts, quotes, estimates and other documents, and applies sound adjusting techniques to determine loss amounts as covered by the applicable policy. Prepares estimates of damage and other supporting documents to convey the loss. Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state, and federal government, and by McLarens. Experience in effectively managing Multiple Insurer & Multiple Layered Property Insurance Programs. Manage assisting teams or individual adjusters. Controls claim costs. Recommends litigation or subrogation when appropriate. Develops new business accounts and market opportunities. Provides training and mentoring to the next generation of adjusters. Maintains company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and corporate quality standards. Will carry the appropriate licenses as required by the various state Departments of Insurance (DOI).

 

Required Experience & Skills:

4-year college degree or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of complex claims adjusting experience. National claims experience. Appropriate state adjuster license(s). Handled complex commercial losses including time element.  Experience building a productive team of senior managers. Proficiency in using Xactimate or other estimating platforms. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide exceptional customer service. Strong critical thinking and technical skills to assess damages accurately and expedite claims settlements. Ability to plan and prioritize. Potentially significant travel required.

 

Essential Physical Requirements may include:

Travel to inspection sites.  Move about indoors and outdoors to conduct inspections.  Ability to position self to inspect confined spaces, ascend and descend stairwells and ladders, traverse roofs, and work atop roofs.  Ability to maintain balance while traversing on narrow, slippery, or sloping surfaces.  May exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly while moving objects.  Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds.  Transport, unfold, and extend OSHA approved ladder which may exceed 50 pounds.  Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer, etc.), and measuring devices.  Manual dexterity and coordination to extend hands and arms in various directions, using fingers in repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing.  Handle paperwork and files.
