What You'll Do
BCG’s digital and tech business has grown exponentially over the last five years spearheaded by BCG X bringing together cutting-edge AI, and unique software and products in the most strategic industry applications for clients. Across digital, AI and data BCG has developed a portfolio of products, data assets, methodology and intellectual property; and has partnered with leading AI tech companies. BCG works across all sectors and geographies with our clients to bring data and AI solutions into their strategy, products and value chains.
BCG is seeking an accomplished senior lawyer to spearhead the strategy and support for its expanding AI business with an initial focus on IP and data assets. In this role, you will refine and drive the go-to-market strategy, leveraging your deep subject-matter expertise to align with the latest market trends in this fast-evolving space. Your mission: to unlock the full potential of these assets, maximize their value, and mitigate associated risks through innovative, expert-led approaches.

Have deep knowledge and proven expertise in developing and managing data and IP assets and develop specific strategies tailored to product and business needs.Be a seasoned and skilled IP lawyer, recognized in the industry, with a core competency and proven track record in AI, digital, IP, data or software businesses, and curiousness for new and emerging technologies.Be able to develop and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.Have a systematic approach to understanding and communicating legal positions both within the legal team and across the organization, specifically in rapidly evolving technical areas – creating expertise knowledge that is easily leveraged by commercial teams and others and ensures legal practices incorporate the best, most current, thinkingHave the ability to engage with senior business stakeholders to translated legal expertise into actionable business strategy, benchmark and adapt GTM approach and drive the implementation across the organization.Be comfortable in a fast-paced global organisation and confident in regular interactions with senior business leaders supporting making decisions that require intellectual nimbleness, pragmatism, risk awareness and commercial acumen. They will need to be self-motivated, proactive and hardworking team players who can influence through persuasion.Have the people skills and motivation to lead, develop and grow a team of lawyers in a global organization.In all cases, BCG's Executive Legal Counsel will be an exceptional lawyer, able to efficiently deliver high quality work, and will have substantial experience effectively advising on and negotiating large commercial programs by deploying a strategic, outcome-based perspective to transactions.Customer and business focus

Qualified lawyer with excellent academics and 15+ years legal experience with a proven record of work in digital, technology, IP or software businesses. Preferably, with a combination of law firm and inhouse experience. Law firm experience is a strong plus.A proven track record to develop strategy, product advice, and up-to date understanding of market dynamics and IP approach of tech companiesAbility to lead negotiations in collaboration with senior business and represent BCG in complex client negotiations focused on data or IP mattersThe ability to draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including client engagements, licensing agreements, data sharing, outsourcing agreement, subcontractor and partnership agreementsAdmission to the patent bar and certification as a registered patent attorney with the USPTO or EPO (preferred, but not required)The credibility to develop, implement and champion BCG IP policies and processes while also providing commercial support to those who seek approvals on deviations of contract or other policiesThe ability to quickly comprehend complex sets of international laws and regulations and interpret those laws within the context of BCG's global policiesWho You'll Work With
A broad range of product and offering teams shaping BCG’s approach and use of innovative technologies while ensuring compliance with intellectual property and data governance policies. You will also work with IT, compliance/risk departments to implement data governance frameworks and align data management practices with regulatory requirements. This role will involve regular interaction with executive leadership to address complex legal and strategic issues related to IP, patents and data.
