Our expanding video offer plays a key role in guiding our audiences with knowledge and insights to achieve financial freedom and greater prosperity. Every market day, our flagship news shows follow market developments and turn to lead investment managers and strategists, research analysts, executives, and policymakers to keep viewers abreast of what’s driving performance and shaping future opportunities. We are adding to that daily schedule an expanding offer of shorter conversational shows, consumable across our own website and app platforms, off-network on social and TV channels and on all major podcast platforms.

This is an in-office role located in NYC.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a leader who, as Executive Producer of video podcasts, will lead and shape our team’s continuing conversation about these conversations and turn those into an appealing slate of creatively presented shows that engage guide, and, sometimes, even inspire audiences. 

Set and execute a strategic plan for the Yahoo Finance video podcasts to ensure that they appeal to everyone in our audience. Collectively, the goal is to offer an array of diverse sources of perspective and useful insight unmatched by any other financial media. 

The Executive Producer of Podcasts oversees day-to-day operations, including planning, scripting, setting assignments, staffing, and budgeting. 

The successful candidate oversees a team of producers, editors, and talent that will pitch, develop, produce, film/record, and edit original video podcast programming. 

This person is responsible for successfully distributing content across Yahoo Finanance’s numerous distribution channels, including O&O, OTT, Top Podcast distributors, YouTube, and other social platforms.

The role requires strong communication skills and will involve collaborative work across the Yahoo Finance newsroom (text, social, marketing, product, sales, and more).

This individual reports directly to the Senior Director of Programming to finalize strategies for content development, production, distribution, new shows, SEO, evergreen, and educational strategies. 

A podcast roadmap/OKRs/business objectives must be delivered within the first 30 days and reviewed by the Director of Programming and the Head of Video. Business objectives will be aligned with overall Yahoo Finance business strategies.

This position is directly responsible for driving the growth of podcast/video viewership and distribution, including:

Viewership and downloads across multiple podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple, iHeart, and more. 

Video streaming viewership on both O&O and OTT distribution channels. 

Clip distribution and viewership across social platforms, live shows, and O&O.

Storytelling is critical to our success. The role will sharpen story angles, strengthen scriptwriting, and polish edits with producers and video editors. 

This individual will work with the Senior Director of Programming and Sales to help package, shoot, and develop key content attractive to advertisers and new audiences. 

The EP of Podcasts is responsible for working closely with Yahoo Finance internal and outside talent on the development and execution of their video podcasts. 

Responsible for identifying Key opportunities for coverage both daily and weekly

Identifying trending topics and key areas to win

Works with the Director of SEO/Uploading to identify and distribute videos across various platforms based on top Trending topics

Help set the editorial standards for YF original content with solid attention to detail.

Maintain budgets and track spending in collaboration with the operations team.

Ensure the team is managed with respect and kindness. Ability to performance manage with grace, while making critical decisions about staffing capabilities and needs to grow.

Complete additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Podcast and multimedia producers with 7+ years of producing and programming experience within a news media outlet, digital media outlet preferred - located in NYC

Previous experience in a leadership role is a must

Passionate about personal finance and investing, with an understanding of markets, business, and investing strategies.

A strong storyteller with a proven track record of deep reporting and high-quality, original field production with the audience and platform in mind.

Professional experience writing and reviewing headlines and scripts on deadline.

Ability to collaborate with newsroom leaders, producers, and reporters across video, text, sales, and more.

Strong project management skills, building, maintaining, and executing a roadmap

Incredibly flexible with an eye always toward the changing news environment.

Refined Knowledge of current SEO practices and techniques

Hands-on experience with both podcast and video production.

Proven track record producing and optimizing video and podcasts for digital platforms, including O&O and OTT.

Ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment 

Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities, multiple projects, and tasks with ease

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 - $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
