The Executive Sous Chef role at The Restaurant at Gilder offers a chance to lead a world-class kitchen. Located in the American Museum of Natural History, our brasserie serves a seasonal menu rooted in classic French technique and passionate about American bounty. Key Responsibilities + Supervise and manage the culinary team, ensuring flawless kitchen operations. + Coordinate and manage all stations in the kitchen, including prep, butchery, and expo, while training and supervising team members. + Work closely with the Executive Chef to establish and effectively implement consistent food quality, production, sanitation, and presentation. + Develop and implement seasonal menus and special event dishes that rival top-tier culinary establishments. + Manage inventory, food cost controls, and maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations. + Apply computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office applications, to streamline administrative tasks and communications. Preferred Qualifications + A.O.S. Culinary Arts Degree or equivalent experience and culinary certificate required. + Minimum of two years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience. + Demonstrated catering experience and experience in fast-paced, intricate foodservice operations. + Extensive knowledge of food trends, quality standards, production, and presentation. + Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and the Internet. + ServSafe certification highly desirable.
