This position will join a growing team of construction insurance professionals responsible for underwriting and marketing of specialty construction professional liability and environmental liability insurance coverages, including Contractor’s Professional Protective Indemnity (CPPI) and Owners Professional Protective Indemnity (OPPI) insurance. Working in a team environment and under the supervision of experienced underwriters, this position will collaborate to underwrite and service accounts, identify key construction agents/brokers, implement sales and marketing activities, and demonstrate a strong customer focus and understanding of Hartford Construction’s appetite and strategy.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred: Candidates with professional engineering degree (P.E.) in a construction related discipline are strongly encouraged to apply.
Executive Underwriter title: 5+ years of experience underwriting professional liability, environmental liability, or construction casualty insurance products.
Senior Underwriter title: 3+ years of experience underwriting professional liability, environmental liability, or construction casualty insurance products.
Existing relationships with Texas insurance brokers.
Success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external business partners.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations, and propose solutions.
High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit.
Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes.
Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win.
Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
Ability to travel approximately 20%
Location:
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near our Houston, TX or Frisco, TX office will have the expectation of working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$96,560 - $182,640The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
