Job Summary
Provides supervision of exercise testing and assists in supervising exercise training sessions and assists with impatient progressive ambulation and patient education.
Responsibilities
• Conducts exercise tests and provides an individual written exercise prescription for normal and diseased clients.
• Supervises Phase II and Phase III exercise training sessions in the hospital and community center. Assists convalescing diseased clients through a gradual in-hospital activity program which would include simple range of motion exercises and progressive ambulation as part of the Phase I team.
• Provides education and counseling of normal and diseased clients, and their families in regards to exercise, knowledge of their disease, and the lifestyle changes often necessary in persons with cardiac disease.
• Assesses program effectiveness and keeps abreast of current trends, making recommendations and implementing changes as necessary.
• Collaborates with the Cardiac Rehabilitation team in the development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of new and existing programs, special events, and community health promotion activities.
• Participates in educational programs to enhance professional skill and knowledge of Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
• Master's Degree (Required) Education: Master's degree in exercise physiology, sports medicine preferred. May also be considered if currently enrolled in Master's degree program with graduation within 12 months. Experience: 1 Year maximal functional capacity exercise testing; leading and supervising exercises with normals and cardiac patients
