Fulltime/40 Hours a Week/1.0FTE POSITION SUMMARY:Performs multiple non-invasive procedures according to division standards while providing data to the Cardiologist for interpretation of procedures. Patient care/customer service includes care/service to patients/customers in the following age groups: pediatric (30 days through 12 years), adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and above). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties: + Case manages patients in Phase 2 Cardiac Rehab and Vascular Rehab exercise programs. Adheres to the Core Competencies of American Association of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). + Adheres to Weight Management criteria. + Performs Nutritional Counseling + Performs Blood Pressure Management + Performs Lipid Management + Performs Diabetic Management + Performs Tobacco Cessation Management + Performs Psychosocial Management + Exercise Training Evaluation + Assesses areas of patient needs for reducing cardiovascular risk by developing Individual Treatment Plans and coaches patients to make healthy lifestyle changes. + Performs exercise consults with patients. + Monitors patients’ hemodynamic responses to exercise. + Performs basic initial evaluation and orientation of new patients excluding the Phase 2 cardiac and vascular physical assessment + Monitors participants and reports inappropriate responses to RN or covering physician. + Educates patients formally (education classes) and informally (1:1) on risk factor reduction, cardiovascular health, and strategies for successfully improving health status. + Confers with patient, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan, implement and assess the treatment program. + Provides exercise instructions related to proper technique for warm-up, cool-down, stretching, strength training and use of equipment. + Maintains exercise equipment ensuring functionality and cleanliness. Oversees repair and maintenance. Specifically for Non-Invasive Cardiology positions: + Interprets and documents cardiac dysrhythmias. Is able to independently apply, scan, analyze, and record holter monitors. + Analyzes 12-lead EKGs. Assesses for appropriate indications and contraindications of stress testing. Independently performs and supervises stress testing under the direct supervision of the physician who is in the immediate vicinity or on the premises and available in case of emergency situations. Monitors and records vital signs. Terminates exercise stress testing following department protocols. Interprets exercise stress testing and obtains immediate physician review when indicated. Completes exercise stress testing and holter monitor flow sheets. + Is able to apply holter monitors demonstrating proper electrode application with analysis of underlying arrhythmias. + Provides one-on-one instruction to new employees and students as directed by the Supervisor or Manager of Cardiology. + Initiates CPR and assists physician during medical emergencies SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above: + Assists with evaluation of the department and training needs of the department/staff. + Travels regularly to various sites within the region to support operational needs as listed above. + Other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or Kinesiology, issued by an accredited university or college. + Basic Life Support + Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 3 months of employment. + Certification from American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in 1 year. + 1 year experience working with healthcare/wellness or Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Three (3) years experience working in Cardiac Rehab specialty. + Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology issued by an accredited university or college. + One year telemetry monitor skills.
