We are looking for an Experienced Lab Analyst to join our Rapid Diagnostics (Toxicology) laboratory located in Loughton (Essex).

As an Experienced Analyst you would be part of the Analytical Services team in the lab and would be involved in the preparation and analysis of drugs of abuse in biological samples conducted by either immunoassay (CEDIA, HEIA) or by confirmatory techniques (such as LC/MS/MS), or by a combination of both.

What You’ll Do

Extraction of drugs from urine samples (SPE/LLE) and associated processes such as setting up batches on instruments, checking sequences, storing and disposal of samplesScreening of urine samples by CEDIA, HEIA  and preparation of daily screening quality controls and reagents Preparation of laboratory reagents, solutions and controlsSetting up of instruments and running system suitability tests (SSTs)Daily, weekly and monthly equipment checks and routine maintenance and completion of associated equipment recordsTroubleshooting assay and instrument issuesGeneral QC monitoringCalculations of concentrations for standards, QCs and reference solutions where applicableTake part in internal/external auditsResponsible for training of other team members

Required Qualifications  & Skills

Science Graduate, or equivalent experienceUnderstanding of the basic metabolic pathway of drugsUnderstanding of the types of extraction methodsUnderstanding of LCMS in order to troubleshoot assay problemsPrior experience in a laboratory environmentExcellent attention to detailKeen interest in understanding principal of processesConform with appropriate safety standards Work in accordance with the current documented Standard Operating Procedures
